Lost one

You must have the vet bills to back you up, and the shelters, etc should stand you in good stead. Like I said, they do focus on the small stuff for some reason. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, and hoping we don't have to come bail you out of jail because then I won't be able to afford to pay the $124 speeding ticket I got today. First one in thirty years, and it's not like I didn't deserve it.....
I sure know how you feel losing a young horse, and hope things are brighter tomorrow.

Send them east till things blow over-they have to investigate every report right or wrong. I had a similar deal a neighbor P'O'ed because I weasn't going broke fast enough for him to buy me out-just stand your ground and it will all turn out. To tell how ridiculous it got a coyote killed a goose of ours and ate in the ditch-well I got a call from the health inspector that I had dumped dead livestock on a roadway. I said WTF are you talking about his reply was "WE have reports of a dead duck" I kind of pointed out there'd be a second dead duck if he didn't smarten up. I'd get referances from all your customers etc-get your ducks in a row so to speak. By the way-if they do turn up to seize-I'd get your vet to put a stop to them moving pregnant mares.

judith,

I would definately take pictures of all your aninmals or get them on a video. You never know what these shysters might do. I would get your reg. vet to write a report up on the condition of your critters and how quickly the health of a horse can change during these adverse weather conditons.

Thanks everyone really. I know they have to investigate. I really dont have a problem with that. (honestly they are truely just doing their jobs) I have all of my vet bills and I even had the last bottle of Strongid here and the receipt for the Ivomec that I ordered on the 12th of this month! I have photos of all of the horses as of this afternoon and I have a vet and a farrier coming tommorow. ( I hate the fact that a farrier is coming as I do this stuff myself but I will need a receipt for the work ) Of course though when the SPCA arrived there was ice floating in the water buckets and stuff so I will have to make sure I have proper warm water out there at all times... So that is going to be a pain for the next couple days but I am alot more realxed than I was a couple hours ago. Man I think I am manic or something. 0 to 60 in a matter of hours. Not shakin anymore at least. This is the first complaint of this type I have had in over 15 years of raising horses so I guess I should feel better than I do...... Also the first time I have ever lost one of my babies, man that sure hurts. I remember when he was foaled and I was just getting him ready to go to his first trainer for reining this spring :( I just feel sooooo unsafe to know that people are prowling around my place. That really has me on edge.

Hey Lilly,
sorry about your loss too, never fun that's for sure. Poor little feller.....

Thanks Judith. It happens. Aint a whole lot we can do about it. I sure feel for you and what your goin thru tho. I'll be keepin ya in my thoughts and prayers.......that everthang works out ok for you.

Educate me please. How are horses considered pets. They are used to herd cattle so they are an animal that has to pay its way just like a dairy cow. Dairy cow that don't produce goes to slaughter and sold as CAB.
What about the horses that are raised for slaughter? What do you do with your old cow horses? Keep them in the back yard as pets or sell them for slaughter?
Sorry for your problems, hope it all works out for the best.
When he stops in....ask him if he knows the difference between a puddy cat and a woodpecker

I was a bit stumped on that one myself. Horses in BC would never be raised for slaughter.(Gasp Horrors) Animal farms are constantly being protested, mink are released on a regular basis. This is the fluffy zone. I found out the neighbor down the road had a mature cow freeze the same night ( I verified the info with Carsons so it's not rumor or anything) the same night and the SPCA hasnt visited them... Funny that... I will be discussing that little tidbit with the nice officer man when he visits me next.

You Canadians have really got troubles if the animal rights people have made that much headway. If you don't somehow get a bit in the mouth of your politicians, you'll be out of business. I just can't believe these storys. I guess it's coming to our country soon if we don't do something. That's crazy.

RR it is already here. Just keep all animals you are treating behind the barn where no one can see them. I had a foundered mare that I got called in on, she was in bad shape by the 7th day, but we were trying to give her ever chance. That was like 8 years ago.....luckily I had my vet call them and show them he had been out treating her. She was laying down with a bucket of water and hay when the investigator got to her. He asked me and told him..he said some city gal didnt know what she was seeing. We get a lot of weekend Houston folks up here that have no clue what life is really like, when it comes to farming and ranching.

B.C is a liberal province with a very strong NDP influence....strong left wing. Its where the bunny huggers and vegans flock to,esp Judiths home area.Oh and also NN home area :D

Judith...greg says" hang in there :) and if your really moving to Sask. make sure you prepare yourself and watch Corner Gas"

Mrs Greg,
Corner Gas is already being watched but I keep missing "little mosc (don't know the spelling) on the prairie" That show looks hilarious! Where I live in BC is called "Little India" due to our HUGE population of Indian Immigrants. Our street signs here are even in punjab and sikh translation, no french for the west coast.

Kola I AM MOVING out east where I belong :) (HAHAHAH I called the prairies east)!!!!!!

Haven't seen Little Mosque{sp} either but my son phoned the other day and said it was hilarious. And don't forget when you move to Sask...rice krispies squares have to be square, and nanimoe bars are not called nanimoe bars in Sask, cause they're made in Sask. For all you that are confused.....so be it

KOLA,do NOT believe Judith, theres NOTHING about Sask. Or Alta that is east.....

Judith if NN lives there I'd be packing today. I'd be hanging my head up in another set of stair rails come dark and it'd be somewhere that normal people live.
Life is too short for that kind of garbage with the horse police.

They still havent shown up yet to serve me???? He was supposed to come yesterday. Not sure what is up with that at all? Weird I tells ya.

Rice crispy squares are not square, sometimes they even end up with eyeballs and such at our house. :) So what you are telling me is that every function I attend I am to beller out how much I like the nanimoe bars. Heck I will really throw them and make the bottoms pink not yellow  ( marichino cherry juice, it's quite nice :) That should get the town folk abuzzz :)

I'd find out who thought it was their business to get into your business and have a little 'discussion' with them!!!

Really hard to figure it out Kola. Honestly there is NO WAY you can tell I have horses unless you are on the property and by on I mean you have to walk past my house, then past the machine shop and then past the grey barn and go through a gate THEN you will find the horses  It absolutely baffles me. And how did they happen to wander through by chance on the day the colt died. Leads me to believe there have been a fair few visits that I have not known anything about. It really bothers me to think people would be wandering around in my space !
