Judith; I just had the chance to review a document published by the BC Humane Society; It's a radical document put out by an organization that has extreme animal rights backing. I was astounded that Sasks. SPCA has to spend a lot of admin time trying to counter the negative issues being floated by the big city animal rights groups. Watch out folks; our way of life is being challenged by well financed, determined, and naive groups that have absolutely no basis for existence other than inflicting damage on animal industry!

Cowsense,
Was the document you read a published paper that I could find on the net? I still havent heard from them..... Althought my cat litter trap caught someone. I dumped cat litter on the front porch and made it look like the dogs got into a bag. There were tracks in it in the morning
I must be totally parinoid to be doing stuff like this but the sad part is it did catch someone. Feeling a bit better today though :)

Get some game cams and put up around and about. Put up some extra gates, motion activated flood lites , ( they're great @ the barns), etc.

I'm WAY WAY WAY off the beaten path and I have my property entrances gated. You don't get in unless I know it ahead of time and if you decided to walk in, well it's a LONG walk and would be a even longer walk out!! Open the door and let loose a few gun shots before you go out, then listen and you can tell which way they are running! There are lots of ways to be more trouble than it's worth to be mess with!!

Surely you got a 'gut' feeling about who called in. Can't the ' officials' tell you who reported you? I'd think you'd have a right to know.

Geeesshhh Judith  Thats not even funny. Is your place posted? Someone needs to be charged with trespassing....man this just gets worse

Nope, they will not tell you. It was an anonymous tip. They are not obligated to tell you anything AND they do not need a warrent to stop in for a visit. I have gates on the two sides facing the streets but I do not have a gate on the driveway to the house. I have cameras being installed as we speak. They are motion powered any movement and they go off

I forgot I dont have no tresspassing signs up yet but that is the next order of business. A gate at the front will follow shortly thereafter. My dogs are going to go visit a buddy for a while cuz that's all I need for them to find out I have 4 of the critters. We are allowed 2.

Kola,
we can not own guns of any sort in the area that I live in, so firing one off might get me in a whole other heap of trouble :) I am also not permitted to harbour nukes of any type 8) (I laugh at that one every time I drive by the sign )15 years its still funny :)

Judith; This was a discussion paper on livestock transportation put forward by the BCHS and I was not given a copy. Try a google search on BC's humane societies and I'm sure you will find their website and hopefully can research their operations standards. Our SPCA has rigid guidelines that their inspectors are supposed to follow and they must have a valid complaint from someone to start an investigation. Contact their office and demand an explanation, be pro-active, and be willing to prove that you are providing above and beyond the necessities of basic animal care. They won't have a leg to stand on as they must prove wilful negligence. Keep your chin up and head this off before they drag it any further! PM me if you need more info!

Hey.. Chicago is a nuke free zone too Judith... Always had to laugh at those signs outside of O'Hare...

In the states you can get the report but since the complaints are suppossed to be annonymous they black out the area with phone numbers and names of the people who call in the tip.. You also have to wait 6 months or so before requesting a copy of the report.

Somewhere here in the photo gallery is a pic of my sign posted at all my entrance gates!!!

It's the first thing that is commented on when someone visits!!!

Dang I hope they don't ban my nukes here!!!

If they haven't come to sieze anything yet I doubt they are.

Most SPCA officers are wanna be cops.

I had a visit from one several years back when I had cows 6 miles from home on a half section with some trees and they were licking snow. I would feed them everyday just before dark, and they cleaned it up, and there was lots of snow so you couldn't see it unless you were there right when I fed them.

The cows were doing well, I checked manure on them everyday when I fed.

Anyhow, I came unglued on the guy told him he would get slapped with a liable suit for even suggesting I abused my animals. He acted tough but never came back. He knew he didn't have a case. They actually have to find starving or suffering animals to lay charges. He said he didn't see any feed, I told him he was a jackass and be there late afternoon when I fed if he wanted to see feed. He said they had no shelter and I told him the trees were enough.

I figure it was the road grader man that reported me. He always noses into stuff he knows nothing of. Took me a while to figure him out, but it fits.

Well no starving or suffering animals here and they had feed and water when the officers arrived. So that should cover my butt I hope. Still no word yet.... I will keep ya posted :)

Again, we have these folks from the CITY That have no clue what it is to take care of animals. WANNABE's that dont mind their own business. We have it here as well...we are little to close to Houston. Judith becareful, sounds like you have more than just CITY PREDATORS scoping about. You need at least one good gun..;) whether legal or not.

Hang tough...

Roland ( Braxton's Poppa) will be at the house quite a bit more often. I am just too far off the beaten track if there was a problem. We have so many drug deals in the cul de sac etc that it is better safe than sorry. I ran around today and posted "smile you've just been recorded on 24/7 video surveillance. On every pole I could find. This whole thread seem just way too melodramatic for my taste.. Unbelievable that it is actually playing out like this. OOOOO Give me a home where the buffalo roam and the junkies are miles away. Where seldom is heard a discouraging word. And the SPCA go aaaaawwwwwwwaaaaaaeeeeeeee..........

Junkies are EVERYWHERE!

My local thief/junkie is back in jail AGAIN for the 18th time, no kidding there!! I told our authorities ( use that word loosely) that if they wnat to keep him alive as a snitch for them, keep him off my place as I'm sick and tired of his crap and stealing!

You have to let it be known that you WILL NOT allow people to just poke around your place! If it takes a cap in the arse, so be it. What about getting a starter pistol? It will make a lot of noise and make someone think they're getting shot at! Can you have one of them?

Cases like this you have to ' throw down' and it's YOUR PLACE AND YOUR RULES and whomever comes onto that place has to play by those rules!!
