Sobanders had the biggest filly I have ever seen. Had a hard time delivering and the baby only lived a few hours. Had to be a filly grrrr.....

:cry2: awww thats THE worst loss, greg and I have never lost a foal at birth and only one at weaning, she even had our ranch name as her registered name....THAT was a huge loss to us. :(

I would think that there was something wrong with her to be that large. I mean she looked perfect but you never know what is going on in the inside. Momma is doing great and surprisingly has no rips or tears of any sort.

Sorry about your bad luck Judith, and hope the rest of the foaling goes smoothly. We don't do foals here anymore, as they make too nice of kitty snacks, and it's kinda heart breaking when you lose one for any reason.

Awe Judith im soo sorry!

heres two Big hugs from me!!

This is going to sound HORRIBLE. But honest to goodness I am completely numb about it. I have had no reaction one way or the other. Odd cuz Sobey is my favorite mare :( I'm very relieved she is OK though. That sound weird????

That my dear is a coping skill...wish I had a hug to give ya

Thank you all for your kind words Sobey is great this morning. Vet came out and looked at the babe. She will let me know what happened in a couple days. Joanne just kept saying damn shame damn shame. That's why I like her as a vet so much she is still human. The Mayakovsky foal is my next one out of the gate. Prayers that he or she is healthy. That one will represent my entire years wages! I really can't afford to lose another. Interesting I have spoken to alot of people in the area that had the same problem. Super big foals that only live a couple hours? Could it be something in our feed?
