Well, maybe he was a wannabe Texan.
You should get out of town more often, or maybe in town more often
Haymaker. I don't think Texans of your vintage wear those Taco
hats, but young Texans do wear 'em.

So it's not a rumor. :P

Yup,young Texans that honky tonk and arena rope, caint git sunburnt too bad with that air conditioner runnin and the music turned up loud.
But you are right about the gittin out more and to town, speakin of which my calendar sez its Friday :D

The black hat attitude is.....................usually a youngster that is tryin to impress the ladies, with that macho attitude, around here you find out real quick Texas sun and black hats dont cut it if you have to work out side all day.
Some folks will wear a black hat in the winter,or to the water hole, wear one myself when the sun gets low and I get spruced up for town.
good luck

Mr. FH always wears a black hat, unless he is in Texas...

Heat bothers him so much that when he's buying a new or different
vehicle he goes around and puts his hand on the outside of the rig.
He says there is a difference, of course it's the paint color--but he's
so color blind about all he can tell the difference of is black...or white...
he did buy a silverbelly hat this year, so he can wear that in Texas, :D
as we are going there this winter...

Yup,its a fact black hats and black pickups are mighty pretty,at the right time and place, this has got me to thinkin, maybe I'LL dig out my black hat and wear it tonite, hell who knows I might run into a couple ladies that were tryin to teach me sumthin about chivraly, they kinda thought they were cute, finding a redneck that did'nt even know what it meant
good luck

And as for the Taco hats...I don't see a whole lot of em around here. I think it's more a New Mexico thing than it is a Texas thang and it's just spilled over. But if you notice the one's that are wearin the Taco hats are also wearin them ugly square toed boots. That remind me of the old dingo harley riders boots with the ring on the side hahaha UGLY!!!!!

Try that black hat, haymaker. Maybe you'll get lucky!!! :P

As far as the square-toed boots go, JL. Some of them look
pretty nice and are good quality. But I know what you mean about
looking like those old dingo boots, UGH and UGLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

X2!! must be a NM thing. The only time i wear a black hat is at a winter rodeo or deer hunting. They keep the rain off my ears in the cold gray northerners that come down here. but her in LA 90% of the time its the old trusty straw hat with ALOT of ventiliation. But go easy on the square toed boots. I love all of mine.

Gee Hay Maker, I don't know if I would admit to the ladies having to be bold before they'll talk to me. I mean what does that say about YOU??

the taco hats seem to be more descendants from south of the border, usually on top of running gear that looks like you could kill roaches in the corner with the long pointy toes, hence the nickname of cockroach killer boots

I was down at the reining finals a few years ago, and passed by the Anderson Bean booth packing up to head home. Since they didn't want to haul the boots home, they practically were giving them away (well, not really, but they were discounted a lot  ), I bought myself a pair. The square toe has grown on me, and I kinda like them :D.
