Wrong , wrong, wrong. This might be the case for the USDA testing method but it shouldn't be.

Post mortem tests today in animals exhibiting early symptoms are pushing the 100% envelope.

There are very few articles that have 100% of their facts correct on this BSE bs. I guess it's ok now for journalists to make mistakes. :???: :???:

Slipping through cracks
Last year, just two months after the first case was discovered — nearly four months before the heightened surveillance program was formally launched — Fong dispatched inspectors to critique the evolving mad cow controls.

Her investigators found examples of cattle displaying symptoms of central nervous system disorder or rabies — which manifests in similar behaviors — that went untested.

One such suspicious cow was delivered to a rendering plant in San Angelo. Plant officials and regulators had a round of discussions over whether the cow was displaying symptoms of a central nervous system problem or wheat poisoning.

The animal was destroyed without further examination.

For the USDA's critics, such missteps raise questions about the commitment of regulators to ferret out cases of the disease.
That's what we "dumb" Canadians have been saying for over 2 years.

Thank God For the OIG chief Inspector General Phyllis Fong's.

At least AMI and others can't squirm and slide past her and she is our last line of defense ,maybe even for the big Trial before The JUDGE.

Is the BIG trial not before 3 judges?

I guess we should have let this topic drop a couple of years ago, eh! Without all the fanfare and media attention and just adjusting our safeguards, I wonder where we would be today?

Shipping beef to our export markets, maybe?
