We are considering buying a manure spreader, possibly a Leon or a New Holland. Does anyone have any pros or cons - any advice would be appreciated.

Never even heard of Leon... I found the New Hollands to be a bit overpriced around here when I was shopping. bought a Knight instead... Has worked out nice so far except when the hired guy bent the PTO shaft with the drawbar...

Go for the Leon........they're twice the machine a NH is (we've had NH's our entire lives). The Leons are far heavier, will last longer and give a better spread in pen pack manure. The custom cleaners that use the Hagedorns or Leons are making a far superior spread with almost no lumps or piles. They're worth the extra price when purchasing!

Thanks for the advice - kind of thinking that the Leon is a better machine -no pile or lumps would be nice especially as we will be spreading on pasture. The price on the Leon is higher for sure and NH has a good lease interest rate which is appealing as cash flow is tight!! Will give it some thought.

Harper; I have a NH 195 and it just isn't built heavy enough......watch CNH finance......they're jerks of the first order......go see your bank or FCC! At least you will have some flexibility and real people that you can talk too ( and that can make an unpreprogrammed decision)!!!!!!!!!!

We have a New Holland 195 it seems to work all right. The salesman (fast Eddie) says that the NH manure spreader is the only machine he sells that he won't stand behind... :D I guess I don't blame him.

Have a good one

"THE POLITICIAN" has already been invented, and yes it is a manure spreader.

It handles something like 20 tons of manure in a load and has a drum spreader 2 feet in diameter and doubled drill stem as flails.

I think they said it took 80 skid steer dumps to fill it.

Basically imagine an earth mover that spreads manure.

It was built a few years back in Canada, and was featured on the Prairie Farm Report.

I saw an old manure spreader with a sign on it sitting in the middle of a pasture by a road. The sign read, "Political Campaign Wagon". :D

You think the same way as I do cowsense!! It was good when they were Case Credit and had a Canadian office now they are in the USA and are CNH. I agree go talk to your bank or FCC they will do better than the handitards at CNH.
