The steel beams that are welded to old auto gates. They were taken out on the ice and allowed to fall through.

Explain. What's an "old auto gate"?

I would assume a cattle guard?

Nice pics Soap!

Guess so. Never heard it called that tho'.

Cornerpostforoutinalake800x600.jpg

Corner post for out in a lake, made from an old auto-gate. These were positioned out on the ice, so they will fall through
in the proper spot whenever the ice melts enough.
Anotheronereadytogo800x600.jpg

Another one ready to go

Here is what they looked like before they fell through the ice.

It kinda funny what different area call things. I have always know them as autogates, moved to Colorado, and the became cattle guards, Kansas was cattle guard, or drive overs, then I move back to the sandhills, and have a neighbor that calls em run over. All the same thing, just interesting.

Please excuse my ignorance, but why do you need a corner post in the middle of a lake?

In that country there might not always be a lake there I bet!

Keeps the registered fish from getting bred by the neighbors bull carp! :D

it's so Soap can keep all his ducks in a row.

Not only can I not keep all my ducks in a row, it's also a hard row to hoe.

The corners are for something solid to tie to. SB Lake is about 260 acres in size, and we have four separate pastures around the lake. It is hard keeping water gaps in so cattle don't cross into the next pasture. Hopefully these new corners attached to autogates will solve what has been a perplexing problem for all the years we've had this ranch (since 1986).
