Top-ranked USC comes to town as the Huskers host a No. 1 team for the first time since 1978.

now who is the cupcake scheduler???

When the games are scheduled as far in advance as they are, years in most cases, how in the bloody hell can you predict WHO will be #1 at any given time? The law of averages will catch up, sooner or later, but there is no way of knowing where anybody will be at any given time. :???: Notre Lame and Michigan come to mind, as an example.

Cupcake schedules? Methinks they must have some good crack downriver from me.

hey! don't forget that you can watch the Mushigan / Notre Lame game on tv today!!! I am all a flutter for such a marqee match up!!! almost be so good I won't watch the late game of USC / NU!

no crack down river my friend, this is Meth country!

We have to schedule K. St. every year because they're in our division - and it's not our fault they've never been rated #1.

Yes it is.....well, yours and Colorado's and Kansas's and Iowa State's and Missouri's. If it weren't for you guys K State would be leading the Big 12 North............

I beleive we were #1 for 4 weeks in 1998. which is more recent than anything NU has done.

That's your claim to fame, Jigs?   100 and some years of football in Manhattan and you were rated #1 for 4 weeks? Come on up, we'll show you the trophy you get when END the year #1 - we've got 5 of them for your viewing pleasure.

5? really?? golly jee!!!

One was stolen by Jonny Rodgers, one beat up by Lawrence Phillips, One is half Michigans, one was raped by the Peters brothers, and the last one has a tear in it's eye, knowing he will not get a "younger brother" unit NU cut Callahan lose.

Jiggsy, you're so consumed with Husker envy that you're getting wild. Now for the "Rest of the story";

Yep, Johnny knocked off a gas station.

Phillips was suspended for 2/3 of the 95 season - Oz just let him play the last game so he could get him out a year early and hopefully have a chance at turning is life around. Like we really needed him kicking the crap out of SEC champ Florida. Seems that was the most lop-sided championship game ever played?

The Peters "rape" never went to trial because there wasn't a rape. You had a chick that wanted a Husker boyfriend, gave him some good stuff, and then claimed she was raped 4 months prior to coming out - and she hung out with him all day following the "rape"!

Michigan has OUR trophy. We had a 15 point larger margin of victory, BEAT 3 top 10 teams by an average of over 20 points and blew out SEC champ Tenn in our bowl game. Michigan won their bowl game by 6 and never even played a team in the top 10!

Now, before you make some wild comment about the "conhuskers" or whatever, let me remind you the internet make it easy to dig up some K. St. "angels".

try not to cry there sandhusker.

every team has bad apples. and the win over Florida, I was actually happy for Osborne. also liked how he showed class by NOT punching in the last score. I agree, Michigan did NOT deserve 1/2 that title.

rodgers was a thug, still is. just some washed up ex ball player milkin bucks out of husker fans.

Peters brothers are scum. I never liked them.
and there are several KSU players who are just as scummy.

I will be thinking of you as I watch the game here in a few minutes.......

I think the NU schedule is about right: 1 patsey, 2 bumblers about like a weak B12 team, and a big program. I've wished for years that NU could get a home and home with the Irish from now until forever. They are always overrated and usually no better than a seond tier SEC team.

are you saying Notre Lame sucks this year
?????

I think my kids Jr High team could whip ND !! they are 4-0, and only play 8 man, but I would put my money on Pike Valley!

ND is so lame this year there's just no denying it, but they're always gifted. While I may not be a friend of KSU, I was disgusted when KSU got the cupcake lable for pounding Colorado State and ND got a bounce for beating the same CSU team.

that is just "tradition" and media bias. no different than NU or OU playing cupcakes and they say " no one wants to play them"

Only coach to whine "no one wants to play us" is Bill Snyder - guess Prince playing Auburn settles Bill's truthfullness.

OU and Nebraska can always get a good game because it will be on tv. As Osborn explained, one tough noncon opponent is enough in addition to the tough conferance race. 'course that may assume a tougher B8/B12 I've never heard anyone inside OU or Nebraska complain about not getting games. All bigtime programs must be watchfull of the schedulers playing talent cycle games.

Snyder was bull headed. he wanted a 1 and 1. the other big schools wanted a two and none. he said go to hell.

we have Auburn coming in, had USC (beat them both times) V tech is coming, and I thought there was talk of Miami.... so we are going to be playing marqee games.

who is coming to Lawrence?
