That looks like quite a horse Brady's got once he gets around him, I bet he's one of those that will last all day and then some.
Was that the first time outside for the bay? Looks like he lost a little weight today!
Once again, good photos. Thanks

Glad to see that Brady is getting that horse of yours camera broke! Wouldn't want him to spook while your clicking away at the perfect shot!

I have to ask...why did Brady tie that feedsack on the horse's tail, anyway? Was it to keep him from kicking out, or what?? :???:

And yep, Brady's sure easy on the eyes all right.

Nice pics Soap.

Gets them used to anything- hanging or touching them anywhere- so hopefully when the first tumbleweed blows into his tail while your riding him he don't blow up...

I bought the horse pretty cheap at a horse sale a year and a half ago. He was green as a gourd, and I'm ashamed to say I just haven't ridden him. Brady has the horse going good enough now, that maybe I will keep him ridden. The horse turns eight years old this spring, so it is high time he started earning his keep. He is registered, and a grandson of Feature Hancock, who is by Frosty Feature. Hopefully his pedigree will contribute to him becoming a good horse someday.

Don't feel bad Soapweed :D I just hauled a 6 year old mare that we raised home from a young guy who agreed to start some "colts" for me. The deal is I have 5 colts to start-- I keep my pick of 2 -- he keeps the other three. I have to admit that going from 9 horses to 6 has got to be the best business transaction I have made in years   My mare has Peppy San, Freckles Playboy, and Doc O'Lena on her pedigree. We sent an older full brother of hers to a cutting horse trainer a few years back-- went to 4 futurities with him, made a little back in 3. The well went dry about then and we brought him home.

How did you do with those synced heifers?

They shelled out pretty good, and we have had very little trouble calving the heifers. We synched about two thirds of the heifers, then turned bulls out with them. We turned bulls out with the other third of the heifers (which were wintered last year on with another neighbor) at the same time. Later in the summer, we ran all of the heifers together. It boils down to the fact that I really don't know how they did, percentage wise, and I don't even know which heifers had the AI'ed calves. They all look pretty good, and we are over 3/4 done calving heifers. Sorry, but I'm not very scientific. :?

My premises isn't ID'ed, the cattle aren't ID'ed, and the sad part is I really don't care. :-)

What do you mean you cattle aren't IDed?
I would think Peach might say differently. Since we see her tagging all the time.

I thought your cattle carried a brand and had about three ear tags in each one.

I :-)

You are right about that part. We just don't know which calves are out of which bulls, and I don't really want to start "professionally" identifying our critters, for the good of the bureaucrats. :?
