My goodness, Soapweed, you are to be congratulated on a FINE set of calves from those heifers. WOW!!

I was going to say, I don't know what looked better, you and your mule, or those heifers and their calves...

P.S. Did anyone ever tell you who rides a mule?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...ok you got me on that one! :P

Acutally, it is someone who is too poor to ride a horse, but too
proud to ride a cow.

I put quite a few miles on that mule yesterday morning. He never once ever acted tired, even though I was rather hoping he would at some point. He is just a bit too energetic, but fun to ride. He has a very fast walk. The trot is a little rough, but his ground covering lope makes up for it. My hope is that he will develop some cow sense.

You know I am kidding with you.

My grandfather used to raise mules in Missouri.
I think they are pretty doggone neat.
They say it takes a better horseman to train a mule because a
mule is not as forgiving as a horse.

So a tip of my hat to you, MULE-A-ROO!!! :cboy:

(Seriously, I hope the mule turns out like you want him to.
They sure don't split you in half riding them, do they?)

Hey soapweed I think you have grass in your watering stop? That sure must be a hard job cutting the grass in there?.I am thinking just getting the mower to start would be a chore..... :D

Some of those two year olds are bound to be open. Do you ship them or give them another chance as fall calvers ?

You are right. Some of these good young cows are bound to be open. Last year, I kept them over and bred them for fall calving. We sold these bred fall calvers in June and they brought $1300 per head. Any young cows that come up open this fall, I might try to sell fairly soon. They will be promoted as potential recipient cows for embryo transplants. Hopefully someone will need young females of this kind and be willing to pay a bit of a premium.

I'd say $1300 would make it alot easier to send a young cow down the road. Many of our Show Me Select heifers don't bring that.
