The bull calves look great, and the hay pile looks pretty darn good, too.

Thanks Soap!

The hay pile sitting here is nice, but all of the close stuff sitting there is purchased (all of that is straw) You can see the end of the silage pile sitting there. We put that up the last few days. We have a nice pile. Probably about 800 ton. But the bad part is we put up 50 more acres than last year, a total of 200 acres of corn silage was harvested, and we got somewhere around 700 ton less than last year. We will mix the straw with the silage when fed. All of the new hay we put up is the hay behind the straw you can see. We got about 300 bales off of about 350 acres. But we have been lucky and found some really reasonable priced hay purchased out of ND:) We are tickled we got what we got, some aren't so lucky!!!

My kind of bulls BRG. The cow in the pic is obviously in excellent shape so given they all are carrying some flesh, what would be the weight of your mature cows? (Just trying to get a sense of how big they are)

Thanks Per!

Usually when we pound them out they are around that 1400 lbs area. I don't pay a lot of attention to weight. Several tell me they need to be 1100 lbs, but we work real hard to have them be easy fleshing, deep bodied, and long made. So if I want that, they have to have some weight to them. I don't want them real tall, but I do want them meaty and deep.

Great looking cattle as usual!! Any of your customers selling in Valentine in the near future?

Thanks BRG. A 1400 lb cow carrying the kind of flesh yours usually do is not that big. Much the same as my cows are. Mount Rushmore is on my bucket list, when we get there a swing by your place will also be on the agenda. Definitely there are more things to see than time to see them. :(

When you get some selling down here, let me know, would ya? I want to watch them sell, and maybe visit with you or your Dad, if you get this way.
