Nice pictures looks like it stays green pretty well in your area.We have had some rain's lately and things sure look better was getting pretty dry.

I thank Soapweed is hoggin all the sunflowers this year. On normal years we have a few. I've only seen one so far and it's along the side of the road in a place that aint convenient to stop.

Good lookin calves, grass has greened up, what more can you ask for.

LOL I have just the oposite problem with my cat.....he eats the dog food. And horse feed. Dearly loves to sit out right under the old mare while she's eatin and picks up what she drops.

Soap, You really need to get some of your pictures together and put them in the county fair..... They are just great..... Some would look really well on my livingroom walls....... I'm thinking 16x 18 matted under glass.... I may have to come and visit.............

Soapweed, I think I remember you writing earlier this year you might sell your red cows. Are you still thinking that way ? And if so, do you mind sharing why ?

Thanks for all the great pictures. I probably have at least 30 of them saved.

Thanks for all the great pictures. I probably have at least 30 of them saved.

The main reason I would sell the red cows, is because most of them are getting quite a bit of age on them. The youngest of them are six years old, and probably a third of them are twelve and older. I haven't kept any red heifers back for replacements for several years, because they are half Simmental, and half Red Angus-Gelbvieh cross. I just don't want a super big cow like these half Simmental heifers would turn out to be. They always weigh good at weaning time and are very saleable, but they are what I consider a terminal cross.

Peach Blossom and I were talking the other day, and I think we will sell every one of our older cows, coming 13 next spring and up. We have quite a bunch of black yearling heifers that have been exposed to bulls this summer. They should take up the slack. We will probably keep the younger red cows one more year at least.

Thanks Soapweed for the comments. All very logical. My oldest cow is 15 and raising her last calf. I decided to not breed her back this time although she's in pretty good shape. I'll post a picture some day. I just decided she's done enough and not to push my luck.

More good pictures. I can't help but notice that you spend alot of time looking at those red cows Soapweed. Cows like those are fun to look at. They sure raise fat calves.

More funner if they have a white face. :D :D :D :D :D
