Today is just absolutely beautiful outside :roll:. About 14 inches have fallen so far, and the winds are now starting to blow. I just hope nothing left shelter because it's going to get downright nasty. At least the temps are holding in the high 20's.

I backdragged a spot to feed :-).

So far the calves are hanging in there. Looks like we're in for a better break after the next storm due in on thursday :mad: :x :cry: :evil: (is this better Richard :lol: )?

The yearlings coming in for feed. I locked them up again since I just didn't trust they'd be bright enough not to drift :?.

A lame cow I've kept in so she doesn't have to travel far for feed or water this winter. She's sporting a new blanket... it's about as expensive as most fur coats :lol:.

Now where am I at??? :???: At least the old drifts had melted so I didn't come across any tipping surprises in the tractor this morning :shock:.

Nice blizzard pics!!!! We are getting the exact same thing here, pine trees can be a great advantage in weather like this. Your cows and calves look great and able to handle the bad weather.
 
Golly--you say another blizzard is forecast for Thursday?

We didn't get much out of this one--cold and windy but not horrible
windy.

Looks like you are taking real good care of your cows, WR...that's all
anyone can do.

We lost our first calf yesterday. Mr. FH had doctored him twice (which NEVER happens here anymore) and wasn't sure what was wrong with him.
We decided to graft a calf off a real old cow on the cow that lost the
calf and when Mr. FH skinned the calf, he was all bruised up. So, I guess he got stepped on, poor thing.

WR, you are taking good care of them this winter. Please feel free to forward some of that moisture down here. Thanks for the pictures, makes me homesick :P

:lol: :lol: :lol: Sounds like somebody could use a hydrating facial and margarita... heaven knows it helped me yesterday. Buck-up cowboy, the sun's gonna shine again for you, me and everyone else on the planet :wink:. This weather does suck, but we can't do anything about it, and IT CAN'T LAST FOREVER!!! It beats the heck out of another year of drought, that's the positive, focus on it!

Now, when I'm trying to calve 70 heifers and all the cows again next February/March, and a wicked Canadian air mass settles in for the entire month, feel free to get me back cuz you know I'll be complaining :lol: .

BTW, Did you see the extended forecast has more snow forecasted for around April 15th :D :D :D . (Couldn't resist).

Thanks. I'm sure Richard will send his on down to you, I better keep mine for now... only two weeks away from a drought :-). Do hope you start getting some moisture, hopefully in warm-rain form :wink:.

Triangle Bar, I usually plan on feeding until the first of May... sometimes I feed until May 10 :roll:. We've gotten big snows into June, but they don't last long.

FH, sorry to hear about your calf. Those things happen, particularly when the cattle jam up during a storm. I hope the rest of calving goes well for you.

YIKES-WR- both yours and Soaps pictures make me feel for you folks- and your cattle...

Richard- while the weather satellites all are indicating another front moving in about Thursday next week-following much the same jet pattern- it appears to me that its lacking the amounts of moisture compared to these last ones......
And I see they keep mentioning ABOVE NORMAL temps a lot more... :)

Only got to 38 here today- overcast- but not too bad a day...I got a stackyard scraped out today of all the lose hay I've been driving over all winter...Pushed enough out to where the cows can get it that I might not have to feed for a couple of days....

Supposed to be close to 60 degrees tuesday here.
 
How come that green tractor doesn't ever have any mud on it?
It's obvious it doesn't sit in a shed all night, with all the snow on the hood!
Windows are crystal clear too! :???:
My blue tractor looks more David Brown than FNH!

It gets washed and waxed weekly :-). Actually it's probably because we don't have a lot of mud up here since the ground is mostly decomposed granite. It usually is kept in the shop, but I left it over at my house since I wanted a way out if needed... good call after this storm :-).
