per--From the sounds of the weather boys- you're planning on sharing this white stuff with us south of the border ...They're saying we could get 3 inchs tonight and tomorrow- along with some blowing...
For that reason I sorted off the heifers this morning- as they are scheduled to start calving earlier than the cows...And we weren't a minute too early- as 2 hours after we corraled them- the first calf came 13 days early...Since they were synchronized- and all bred to the same early calving- easy calving bull (Prime Time)- I may be busy if we have a snowstorm....

Old and as experienced as you are OT, I thought you'd know better than to calve this early...  :P

Amen to that. The first week of April is early enough for me.

Well I normally calve everything starting about the 15th-20th of March- and don't get too bad of weather-- but last year got a chance to have the heifers sychronized and AIed-without any labor or cost- so I could have them out of the way by the time the cows started calving and jumped on it..... I hope it wasn't a bad decision...

In 1989 we started calving cows that were syncronized. It was the first time for us to do that. Of course an Alberta Clipper come through Western Montana right when those cows started calving. I hope that doesn't happen to you.

We had a wooden barn to put the calves into and it was amazing, we
didn't lose even one ear from freezing. That would be a different story in
a tin or metal barn, I think.

Here's wishing you good luck and great calving weather, OT. :tiphat:
