It seems the talk around this area the last couple days is that we might get another snow storm sometime this week. The good Old Farmers Almanac is supposedly saying so, and news is that the weather service has warned the power company in the Black Hills that there may be a big one. I looked on the NWS site, and don't see much to indicate a big storm. Maybe over in the Big Horns.

If one gets to be imminent, I think I will call the trucks and send our cattle to the desert this time.

When I went to Spearfish the "back way" I saw the results of your last storm and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. My prayers are for you that you don't get the bad one next weekend. One in a year is enough. Take care, Tap. You and your family be safe, along with your livestock. :) :)

I sure hope it's rain for you guys, THAT you can handle. Livestock being covered up by heavy, dense snow is NOT a good thing. Even with rain, it is hard to get around to check on livestock but you don't worry so much as it is rain. Been there, done that.

In the late 60s or early 70s there was quite a storm on Mothers Day in the Rapid City area. At least a foot of heavy wet snow, but did not stay on long and good moisture. Not wishing a storm again for any of you.

I just checked "weather for farmers and ranchers' which is the main site I use and it doesn't say anything about moisture on Mother's Day. We do have 0-30-40% chance all week. We got a nice shower early this morning so it smells fresh and good outside.

C'mon, OT, give us a weather report! Please...

All I can pick up on the weekend storm is that most are saying its still too early to tell- but that now they are leaning toward it being dryer than they originally thought- which should be good for Tap...

Looks like you guys have a good chance of picking up some moisture tonite and off and on all week....

I think maybe we might miss out on another storm this time, by the talk of the local weatherman. A nice rain would be ok.

Thanks for the nice thoughts Hanta Yo.

Tap...

It is said that God doesn't give a person anymore than they can handle...and that which doesn't kill us only makes us tougher.

I hope God is looking down on you folks, and thinking "they've 'bout had enough," and has a friendly chat with Ma Nature to bring nice gentle rains rather than a big wet heavy snow.

You guys had quite a go, and I certainly hope the most recent forecasts hold true and it's only rain you get.

Cheers---

TTB

Went to Butte yesterday for my monthly grocery run (gonna wise up one of these days and just rent a moving van for these occassions  ) and it was spitting snow for quite some time....not enough to build up but just enough to remind us that old man winter may not be through with us yet!! Danged cold last night at the 10 year old's baseball game...typical!! They are in the field in their parkas and the parents are in the stands wrapped up in down comforters!!
BRRRRRRR!!!!

Looks like SD is getting it today....

It was so nice here today at 5:30 am, then a little breeze came up and it was cold. We had a sleet/snow shower come through and it got pretty wet. Had to use the windshield wipers to get the slush off the windshield.
Oh, and before it snowed, it thundered...

Crazy, crazy weather.

Runnin' around in the 6-wheeler, only has a rollbar, chasin' calves back where they belong (doggone elk, they pave the way), chasin cows for miles back to where they belong...snowed, sleeted, popcorn snow, rain, wind, sunshine, went from freezing to hot to freezing. That's Montana, give 'er a few minutes and the weather will change (especially in spring, fall)

I really hope you folks in S. Dakota don't get it like you did a few weeks ago. Hope you just get rain, not the deep, wet snow.

Today's storm mostly stayed up in the Hills where it belonged. They had up to ten inches of snow I heard. I am going to say that this was the "big" storm they predicted, and take the truckers number off speed dial. :D

We just had light rain showers.

Tap- I think you are right-- this must have been their "big un" because every computer playout now is pretty much in agreement for some nice weather for the weekend and moms day-- Looks like many areas could get in the 70's :D :D In fact the next couple weeks look like we could see sun and nice temps- 60's -70's....

Rain showers going thru here again all night- and still this morning...Was going to haul a few more pairs to pasture today, but it sounds like when the rain quits the wind is going to blow--may just wait until tomorrow... :?
