The RCMP musical ride was in our town tonight and there must of been 2500 people at it. The really cool thing was that two local boys were a part of it and got called out of the ranks at the end. Pretty good night to be a Canadian I think-they sure do us proud.

That is great...I love the musical ride, that IS what makes one a proud CANADIAN :) July 1 at Ponoka Stampede is the musical ride,we try to make it every year.

I'm trying to convince Ty to get his Novice Pro Card-he's going to enter Calgary so maybe You'll get to see him at the big show. I'd like to go to Ponoka sometime but we usually have a rodeo on here the same time.

It would be great to see Ty in Calgary, where the big boys play :!:

If you do get the chance to get to Ponoka,go,its a really great rodeo, can't believe a Calgary girl is saying this but I'd pick Ponoka over Calgary

Mrs. Greg--or anyone-- does anyone up their remember which Canadian rodeo used to (and maybe still does) awarded belt buckles for event winners that were partially inlaid with a red stone (like a ruby ?)....Beautiful buckles- and I know they gave them out for years back in the 50's-60's...Everyone wanted one of them- one of my old travelling partners won one and it was the buckle he liked the most....

I keep thinking Ponoka- but not sure...

A friend of mine had a Wild cow milking buckle from Calgary back in the 50's. I'm pretty sure it had a Ruby set in.

Don't think it was Calgary-- I know that Red Deer and Ponoka (plus one other in that area) were key rodeos that everyone tried to hit-- and it was one of them I think (oldtimers disease has affected me  ).....I have a tough time remembering all those old rodeos as some (like Edmonton and Regina) were fly ins while sleeping and fly outs sleeping both..

How much rain did you end up with today?-- we ended up with .35 but it looked like more may have been headed Plentywood/Big Muddy direction.....

We had .6 yesterday morning and some heavy showers during the night but I haven't gone to check yet.

Sorry OT,I can't tell you, greg didn't know either,he thought maybe Calgary too, but we have a good 'OL'cowboy friend that would know, next time we have a few 'Cold" ones with him we'll ask. You and him would be good buddies OT,he has lots of great old rodeo stories.

Sounds good-- and I may be totally wrong and it was a West Coast rodeo-- but I don't think so- think it was an Alberta one and maybe they don't do it anymore....Thats just like Shelley or no one on here remembers the old Saskatoon rodeo as being promoted as the "Saskatoon to the Moon" rodeo in the advertising back in the 60's- but I can remember the ads on TV (Might have been just in "69 when Neil Armstrong walked on the moon)....

Sounds like you got things washed off good--- looks like the weather in this part of the country is going to be pretty unstable for 5-6 days-- with enough moisture moving in for some areas to get another inch or two...
