We found the other half of the band down the road about ten miles. Knowing they don't like 4-wheelers, we unloaded about two miles away and circled around to the far side of them. We slowed to a crawl, not wanting to make any more noise that necessary and then turned the motor off when we saw the first heads coming up. I sure don't understand the mustang thought process. They started to run away from us, then circled and came back our way, crossing the trail about a hundred yards away. I gave them my best whiney. The leaders actually slowed and turned our way some. They stopped about a quarter mile away and started to graze.

Some one was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I think it was me. Would thirty feet be considered a "save zone ??

Two hours later we were back at the pickup, loading our 4-wheelers when the whole herd came charging past, again,,strung out for a quarter mile. They came from two miles away, just to buzz us for the second time in one day. I sure don't understand them getting that close to us. Ya just can't capture a sight like that with a camera.

The paint in the lead is probably the oldest in the band. He hangs out about a quarter mile away from the others.

We thought they were headed for water, so we hurried up the road about three miles, and was waiting for them

The old man was the last in line now.

Nifty pictures. They are accepting you as one of their own. How could they not, since your name is mustang, and you know how to whinny?

I was feeling pretty complimented until I got to "Whinny." I've worked hard on my whinny !!!

(cut, snub; displease, distress, disturb, hurt, miff, pain, trouble, upset; jeer, mock, ridicule, sneer (at), taunt; defame, disparage, libel, malign, revile, slander, slur, smear; oppress, persecute, torment)

Maybe my question mark was in the wrong place. This would be better wording: "They are accepting you as one of their own. How could they not? After all, your name is mustang, and you know how to whinny." (period, not question mark) :-)

Besides, here is the definition I found for "whinny:"

whin·ny

/ˈ(h)winē/

noun

noun: whinny; plural noun: whinnies

1. a gentle, high-pitched neigh.

verb

verb: whinny; 3rd person present: whinnies; past tense: whinnied; past participle: whinnied; gerund or present participle: whinnying

1. (of a horse) make a gentle, high-pitched neigh.

"the pony whinnied and tossed his head happily"

Whenever I attend a meeting, and the president says, "All those in favor, say, "Aye." Those opposed, "Neigh," my dilapidated mind always inserts the word "Whinny" instead. It's sad, I know. :(

All that reminds me of the High School English class that I failed, and it makes my head hurt. My efforts to come up with something noteworthy has failed, and it sounds like I failed again, in my attempt to whinny, because mine are low-pitched and more of a screech.

I keep waiting for Mustang to climb on one and ride.

In my dreams only. When I was "younger and dummer',, maybe.

Now i'm way to brittle. There are a few that look good enough, that in years past, I'd like to have in the corral.
