My two horse hunting buddies couldn't go, but I couldn't wait any longer. I was running late because I stopped to do some welding on the neighbors 4-wheeler,,,and then when I got to the Faust road it was closed. The detour was about twenty miles. I was worried that I'd run out of light before I found the mustangs,,, but my luck wasn't all bad. I found them on the very north end of their range by a water hole that looked like chocolate milk.

You would think, If they had known they were going to have their pictures taken, they wouldn't have rolled in the mud.

Did I mention that the wind was blowing ?

"Duplicate Copy."

The Ol Mare looks like age might be sneaking up on her.

Her this, and last years colts.

The Ol Mare's first colt. She had the black colt last spring that came up missing. She looks like she could have another one.

Eight five head all together. There was no way I could get all of them in one picture. Just the sight of them gets my heart to beating double time. Being able to walk
around in the middle of the heard, makes the hair on the back of neck stand up. The possibility of having my back pockets chewed off keeps me checking my back trail pretty regularly.

I hope you enjoy horse pictures as much as I do,,, "both of ya." lol

Nice to see horses so fat. It's a wonder they could are when they have to drink 'chocolate milk' for water, tho.

There sure are some big stout horses in this bunch. :D

The paint mare that is your favorite that you mentioned age is sneaking up on...what will happen to her eventually? Will she ever be put up for adoption? There is some decent breeding behind her somewhere, you can tell by how she is made and by her nice colts.

Thanks again for taking us along on the very enjoyable trip!!

They are AWESOME pictures, and to answer your email, from way back, I think the book size would work great.

I don't know how much longer she will be allowed to run wild. That Management Area is due for a round-up. The BLM would have done it this year if they would have had the money. I'm hoping they will give her another few years, at least as long as he keeps producing colts.

As for water,,, there is cleaner water about ten miles south. They must not mind what they have here. Maybe it tastes better than it looks.

We have water here that looks like ice tea and the cows and horses do fine on it.

So if the BLM doesn't let her run wild, does that mean she will be put up for adoption, or is she considered too old? I won't ask the next question....
but that would beat not being able to travel and starving or thirsting to death.
