We went 4-wheeling today,,, above 10,000 feet, got hailed on, rained on and slid around in the mud trying to out run the lightening and storms. We should have gone to the Desert and took some mustang pictures. We didn't so I'll have to post some "not the best" ones.

After taking all the pictures I wanted in this bunch, I headed north for about twenty miles to Eight Miles Spring on the Cedar Mountain. I had to hunt hard to finally find three head about two miles north of the spring. They were coming in to water, the question was, would they make it before it got too dark for pictures..

After the sun went down, the Night Hawks came out in numbers. I didn't have a lot to do,, so I watched the hawks.

These two came from a little further toward the west. I was thinking if the single got here first and smelled my Old Spice, he would spook and the other two wouldn't come in at all.

This it the single bay horse coming from a the north.

Lucky for me,,, they came in together.

As dark as it was,,, I'm amazed what a digital camera will do.

There must be some "ear eating varmint" hanging around the West Desert.

Some great pictures once again.

What name do you give to the color of that first pair? Are they the same ones as are in the 4th picture? Very pretty coloring!

Old one ear sure got dark this summer. Reminds me of the 2nd palomino I had - she'd turn almost golden-brown in the summertime.

Not being knowledgeable in regard to horse color,,, I'd guess red roan. If I had been awake, I should have include the mother more in the 4th picture. At the time I could only see the dad and colts interaction.

Camera settings have a lot to do with some color changes. For instance, In the fall, I change mine to "More Vivid." It helps to take brighten up the dead grass. As far as Ol One Ear,,, I haven't seen him sense about March. Other people have seen him about fifteen miles to the south east, with a band of about 30 head.
