When I drove out the mouth of the canyon I was checking out the trough just in case there were any mustangs there. To my surprise there were about ten head standing around. I backed my truck up out of sight, grabbed my camera and binoculars and headed in the back door to the trough. I made it to my cedar tree blind without causing a stampede. The paint stud was ruling the trough, and all he could do was lick the bottom. Sense I had my prostrate operation I could match the volume coming into that trough. Over the nest hour some gave up and another small band came in and the "new sheriff" took over licking the bottom of the trough.

I got word today that the water problem has been solved. Thanks to the people at the BLM.

So good they have water. I have horrors of them thirsting to death.
Too bad they run out completely before the BLM knows there is a problem.

There is water about five miles north at a spring called Quinney, and the cattlemen have a trough about six miles southwest that is down in the flats where there isn't much feed. I'm thinking they would check out both troughs before they got too dry. We had the same problem last spring. Hopefully it's a lesson learned and next spring it will be taken care of quicker.
