The Cruelest Game

Saturday saw the football Spartan's dream seasom come to a bitter end with a double overtime loss to Foam Lake. The defence and offence had dominated the game and were leading 22-7 with under two minutes when some bad luck and horrific calls ended the undefeated season. Meadow Lake should be proud of our young athletes despite the circumstances they conducted themselves like champions. The coaching staff of Craig Paylor, Jeremy Sundin, Jeff Fechtr, Brent Plant and trainer Myles Nachbaur deserve our thanks-they molded a team of winners both on and off the field. Players and coaches got to where they were through hard work and dedication but with football the end is abrupt-for the graduating players most will never play the game again-there are no 40 and over beer leagues for football. The class those players showed as they walked off the field should inspire us all-imagine knowing you'll never break through the line for another touchdown, never catch another long pass-never sack another quarterback or stop a run up the gut. To walk on the bus and know you'll never play another game with the teammates you've went to battle with so many times. Football can be the cruelest game but it can teach you some of life's best lessons. Hold your heads high Spartans!!!!!

Not sure where to post this so I'll just put it here.
