My dad's struggle is over

Thank you for your wonderful words of encouragement.

Just to clear up one little thing, my father was 87, I will be 60 Sept. 11. That is why I mentioned he had been my father for 60 plus years.

Dad worked in Alaska for 15 years making the pioneer roads they took the heavy equipment in on for the North Slope. There is a most awesome photo of him on a cat, way up high on an outcropping. If there is a way, I will post that photo when I return.

He was born in Missouri and came to Wyoming as a young man and got into the construction business. He ran heavy equipment all his life. He loved it. So he got to do what he liked for his life's work, and that is so important.

I think that is what ties us all together here on ranchers.net. We are all doing what we really want to do in our life. The hard times just make it more dear to our hearts.

My thoughts are with you, wish I could make it easier. There is a saying that one never really grows up until they lose their father. I wish we didn't have to grow up.

Faster Horses, so sorry to hear about your Dad. You have my condolences. I couldn't imagine losing my Dad, but I know that day will come and it'll be too soon. All the years growing up, I considered my Dad invincible, but time is wearing him down. My heart goes out to you and your family. Remember the good times, and that he had a full life.

I lost my Dad in '76 Life has not been the same. I really missed not having him around to ask those questions about the farm. Just remember he is still with you.....everyday I feel the presence of my Father and Mother and Grandparents. Remember the good times....they will get you through.
 
As time goes by, you will always have the beautiful memories to confort you. I lost my dad when I was 14 years old and there is not a day that goes by that I do not grieve for him. :( I am also 60+. My heart goes out to you.

I understand the struggle it was with your dad, but don't let yourself feel guilty about it. Sometimes our old folks do get a little difficult before their time, and it is hard to deal with it. Your dad had a long life, and what more could he have wanted? You hung in there, girl, and by doing that you showed your dad how much you loved him.
I grieve for your loss, and I know one day I will lose my dad. I won't go any farther than this because I'll start choking up. You take care, you are in our prayers and your dad is at peace. We need to take care of the living, so you let all of us know when you need some hugs and we will be sure to get them to you!!!

Faster Horses, my condolences to you and your family. My dad crossed over three years ago, and my mom this March. Its a difficult time for sure. My thoughts are with you.
 
We're sorry to hear about your loss Faster Horses. My father died in 1960 and I miss him still. Time will truly heal the pain and leave you with the wonderful memories of his full life.

Hope you can make it to Deadwood.
 
Fathers are really hard to part with. Mine died almost twenty years ago and I still miss him. I know what you're feeling and I offer my sincere sympathy. The pain lessens over the years, but the memories are priceless.

I was so sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. He was blessed with a good daughter in you so you'll have no regrets only the good things to remember about your life with him.

I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss, FH. I'm sure he was a wonderful man that will allways bring a smile to you and those he touched whenever he is remembered. God bless.
 
FH, Donna and I offer our condolences and prayers. We loss Donna's Dad in '82. Keep your horse pointed into the setting sun 'cause every night he's blowing you a kiss.
