Saw one of my neighbors the other day, he said to come on up and we'd chew the fat awhile...

...so I went on up and we had a little face to face, I mostly talked and he just grinned.

I found a dead one in the lot north of my house a couple of weeks ago. He was about the size of a large cat.
He had been there quite a while, frozen and well preserved, had been covered by a pile of snow for some time.
It appears that he had ventured out one morning after a heavy snow just as the snow on the tin roof of the building to the north let loose of its snow, so he was killed by an avalanche.
I disposed of him before he got rotten and smelled. Guess I could have made possom stew or something.
 
Yes, he was dead and frozen alright. I had to pry him off the frozen ground with a shovel.
I have seen one around here occasionally. I think they are living under the old building to the north of the lot. (This building, I am told was originally a freight warehouse at Fort Niobrara). There are some holes in the foundation where they can come and go, and maybe sometimes a stray cat or two takes shelter there.

here in the hillbilly country,they say possum ain't bad with a little armadillo in a half shell and some crow.my last wild game feed here was interesting with lots of ozark specialties.
