my brother just told me that she is milking and is going to have her baby within the next few days. this is the first time i have had a horse go into labor
what do i do, sorry for the wording im really happy

Don't pester her. Mares can hold off foaling for several days, in case of danger, so if she feels threatened by you being there, she may not drop the foal for a while. If you must watch her, do it from hiding where she won't be bothered by you.

Just my opinion.

'course by now, she probably has already had it. :-)

Get someone with experience! I am more concerned with after foaling. I have the sweetest mare, EXCEPT for about 2 hours before and 30 hours after foaling, LOL...That is when the teeth bare and it is all hormonal, most mares aren't that way, but.....Before foaling she stands in the water traough and paws for about 30 minutes....

We are partial to giving foals an enema...Hav an now deceased prominent breeder that was hands off except on this...He had lost one,

Do you know when she was bred? I have always heard that mules take a longer gestation. I don't know if that is true or not, tho.

Guess we'd have to ask Soapweed as he seems to be the newest resident muleman. :D
