My journal entry for Sunday, July 7, 1968

I didn't make it out of bed until 8:00. Being late for breakfast, I had to eat by myself. I read a little in "Log of a Cowboy," by Andy Adams, and then took an unhurried bath while listening to the radio.

We got ready for church and left about 10:00. As there was no Sunday School class for Dad and me, we sat in the car and talked to Mrs. Forester until church started at 11:00.

By the way, Dr. Porter sent me information on his hinnies. They sounded okay, but he talked like they'd be on the expensive order.

Colonel Walton from Martin was the guest minister today, as Reverend DeWitt spends all of July at a seminary in Kansas City.

We came home for dinner, and then everyone took naps. I was still sleeping at 4:00, when the rest of the outfit went down to the Fuchser Place after a couple heavy cows. We had left them in the corral yesterday.

I read most of the afternoon and then did chores. When the rest of them came home, we cleaned out the pickup. This evening, Dad hauled some tables and chairs over to Snyd's. [We had borrowed them for our branding day a couple months previous, and they hadn't as yet been returned.]
