My journal entry for Tuesday, November 26, 1968

Again we left the car off at the filling station to get it washed, but again the job didn't get done. Chuck Iske gave my sisters and me, and also Timmy Snyder a ride to the bus.

It snowed last night so the roads were a little icy. We got to Gordon at 7:50.

My average so far in Algebra II is 98%. I worked on an assignment and then studied for an English test during study hall. The test the third period consisted of 25 multiple choice questions and six or seven essay questions. Tim Snyder and I took a test in Ag while the rest of the class had shop. We had to take this to get into FFA (Future Farmers of America).

I read in "Fun Fair" over noon hour. We continued the panel discussions in History class. During the last two study halls, I worked on an English assignment. I had to write a page on picaresque novels [of or relating to an episodic style of fiction dealing with the adventures of a rough and dishonest but appealing hero], "Don Quixote," etc.

A couple late comers held the bus up for 15 minutes. When we got back to Merriman, I stopped awhile at Grandma's and then the girls and I came home.

Chores were already done. We had supper, and then I typed a letter to Mr. Card. I read awhile, polished my boots, and in general didn't accomplish much.

The carpenters were here today. They fixed Mom's washer and drier, and put the ceiling in upstairs.

Preparations are being made to go to Minnesota for Thanksgiving.
