We brought her home! She's just coming 3 and a total sweetheart. She's out of a sire named King Lena DS who was standing at the little mare's home. He's absolutely gorgeous and so mellow Littlest H who is 4 was hand feeding him weeds. He goes back to Doc O'Lena. On her bottom side it looks like she might go back to Peppy San Badger, and Poco Bueno, but I will have to do some more research to be sure.

Sorry for the bad photos. The other horses had her stirred up and she wouldn't hold still. She's a little thin, but I think she'll fill out nicely as she grows.

Her papered name is Princess Lena RF. I'm calling her Lena. I think she's going to look a lot like H's mare. He thinks I am trying to be like him.

I am looking forward to a fun summer, if it ever gets here! She's helped me feel whole again already! :-) Thanks to my sweetie for getting her for me.

Nice mare, may you have many enjoyable days and memories with her.

Why is there roadkill lying in the last picture?

Only a ex-hunting guide/British Columbian/cougar fighter/rancher/farmer/lumberjack could look at a picture with a pretty girl, a pretty little mare, a pretty sky, green grass and a western skyline and notice a dead deer!     Told ya I was deadly with my stick flipper!

Actually I was pretty slow. I looked at the pretty girl, horse and other background twice before I noticed the roadkill. :D

I agree with the others. You look to have found a really nice mare and that's not easy to do. The fact that she is so gentle is a big plus for you and your kids.

You don't need to worry about putting weight on her. She looks fine for her age. Unless you're riding her a lot, graining her could make her "feel her oats" and might eventually make her too fat. She will develop naturally with just good basic nutrition.

I found a fun website just recently, where you can get pedigree information: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/

Just type in the exact name of the sire, grandsire, mare, etc. and you can get pedigrees till the cows come home. It shows that you can register as a subscriber, but the free service is more fun than a "human being should be allowed to have"!

They also list the show records and money earned, etc. On the line next to the horse's name there will be an icon or two. The circle with what looks to be a semi-colon in it will make this information pop up.

Those horses with a red asterisk in the pedigree have pictures. You'll have to put your mouse arrow on the little colored square next to the circled semi-colon to see the photo.

Play around with it. Once you get started it's hard to get stopped!

Thanks JF Ranch!! That website is cooool! 8) :D Mrs. H's mare has a pretty nice bloodlines. Her sire is King Lena DS going back to Doc Olena to Doc Bar and Three bars With some Poco Bueno too. Way too nice of a horse for me to ride.

real nice Mrs. H, now you will have a blast sliding on by Mr H, make sure not to gloat and hurt his feelers.
Please don't really try to be like him as I have read somewhere he is raising goats? :gag:
Have fun and keep her rode down, that puts the best smile on you!

You have a diamond in the rough there... Really, really nice mare... Nice muscle... Put a hundred pounds on her and meet me in Rapid for central states fair.....LOL

I'd love to!! Someday I'd love to get back into showing, someday. And while I'm wishing, I'd love to ride a champion cutter, just to see if I could stay on!

I'll try real hard to be nice, but you know how sensitive those goat farmers can be!
