BIG SANDY... FORT BENTON... SHELBY... CHESTER... CONRAD... CHOTEAU...

FAIRFIELD... STANFORD... LEWISTOWN... LEWISTOWN DIVIDE...

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM MDT FRIDAY FOR MOST OF NORTH CENTRAL AND CENTRAL MONTANA.

* TIMING AND MAIN IMPACT: LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO FALL IN THE MOUNTAINS AND AT ELEVATIONS ABOVE 3500 FEET THROUGH TONIGHT. A MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW BELOW 3500 FEET WILL CHANGE OVER TO ALL SNOW THIS AFTERNOON AND INTO THIS EVENING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 1 TO 3 FEET OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED IN THE MOUNTAINS THROUGH TONIGHT. LOWER ELEVATIONS WILL LIKELY RECEIVE A TOTAL OF 5 TO 9 INCHES... ALTHOUGH SOME SNOW MELT WILL OCCUR DURING THE INITIAL CHANGE OVER TO SNOW... DUE TO WARM GROUND TEMPERATURES.

* WINDS AND VISIBILITY: STRONG WEST TO NORTHWEST WINDS OF 25 TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 55 MPH WILL CAUSE REDUCED VISIBILITIES BELOW ONE QUARTER MILE IN BLOWING SNOW. LOCAL WHITEOUT CONDITIONS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE WITH THE STRONGEST WINDS.

* SOME LOCATIONS AFFECTED INCLUDE: BROWNING... MARIAS PASS... LOGAN PASS... CUT BANK... HAVRE... GREAT FALLS... KINGS HILL PASS... BIG SANDY... FORT BENTON... SHELBY... CHESTER... CONRAD... CHOTEAU...

FAIRFIELD... STANFORD... LEWISTOWN... LEWISTOWN DIVIDE... WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS.

* OTHER IMPACTS: STEADY LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW AND REDUCED VISIBILITIES WILL CREATE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS AND MAY IMPACT YOUNG LIVESTOCK. ALSO... THE WET HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS MAY ALSO CAUSE DISRUPTIONS IN TELEPHONE OR ELECTRICAL SERVICE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING ALONG WITH STRONG WINDS. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE. ONLY TRAVEL IN AN EMERGENCY.

We've had showers and drizzle for the last couple of days...Nice little shower going on right now-- but the 30-45 mph wind is blowing so hard it about drys things out as fast as it comes down...
I've heard some areas got close to an inch--but we're just sitting at .4 ...

Weatherboys say a 90% chance of rain today- and tonight- 70% tomorrow-- and a weather pattern that gives chances of rain all the way thru next Friday....

But at least the wet is making the grass green- and the wheat rows are showing up good in the fields....

forcast for here is 70% today, 70% tonight, and 70% tomorrow. i figure thats about a 210% chance of moisture.......could be a wet one. :D

It has started to rain more, So now we are in a high wind warning!

COLSTRIP... FORSYTH... MILES CITY...

BAKER... BROADUS... EKALAKA... LAME DEER 1012 AM MDT FRI APR 30 2010 ... HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 6 AM MDT SATURDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BILLINGS HAS ISSUED A HIGH WIND WARNING... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 6 AM MDT SATURDAY.

* SUSTAINED NORTHWEST WINDS OF 35 MPH TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 60 MPH ARE EXPECTED IN SOUTHEAST MONTANA THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

* THE STRONG WINDS WILL DIMINISH BY SATURDAY MORNING.

* BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW IN AREAS ABOVE 3500 FEET WILL CAUSE POOR VISIBILITY AND DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS.

* THE STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS WILL CREATE DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS TODAY THROUGH THE EARLY EVENING... ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

WINDS OF THESE MAGNITUDES CAN CAUSE PROPERTY DAMAGE WITHOUT EXTRA PRECAUTIONS. MOTORISTS IN HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES SHOULD USE CAUTION UNTIL THE WINDS SUBSIDE.

:D We've got just under an inch of rain so far in the 3 days of rain-- and its still raining this morning..... :D :D

Forecast for the entire week is a chance of rain....They say this front will spin off into Manitoba this weekend--but another Pacific Front is following out of the Canadian Rockies...

An oldtimer told me two weeks ago that "the 90 days past the fog" rain would kick in the last week of April- and from then on we better start building our Arks... :P

We have over an inch of rain now too, and it is 34 degrees.
The moisture is wanting to turn to snow. Hopefully, it will warm up
more as the day goes on, but now snow flakes are sticking to the
window.

How about you, Justin? What are you getting?( Most likely the same
as us as the only thing different between us is a state line... :P )

Rained a bit on wednesday.
Woke up to a blizzard on Thursday. No idea how much snow we got because it was melting. then it started raining through the rest of the day.

Lots and lots of wind for the last 3 days.

Road was closed between Great Falls and Lewistown. Had some semis jack knifed in the road. people were stranded and being put up in churches in the areas affected.
Down to White Sulpher Springs and south of Eddies Corner were also closed.

Power poles were broken or leaning. Lines had snapped all over. They guess over 5000 people were without power.

schools were closed or let out early.

Pretty standard blizzard.

we haven't got enough rain for me to even be interested in what's in the rain guage. if i had to guess, maybe a couple tenths. it has been an on and off drizzle since Friday morning....oh, and WIND. its keeping the ground wet, but thats about it. i'm happy to hear you guys are getting some. :D

Tonight we sit at an inch and 2/10ths for the last 3 days...And still just drizzling along... Now the predictions are for possibly 1-3 inchs of snow tonight- and then rain continuing until about noon tomorrow before the system moves out....

Best thing is the winds are dropping (down to about 20-25mph) and they say they could drop to 10-15 by tomorrow.... :) :)

I was supposed to haul a couple trailer loads of calves for a neighbor that had 5 semis lined up to haul his cows that have calved out to pasture tomorrow-- but that has kind of been postponed for now... Can't get in to his chute... Hopefully by midweek as he's about out of hay- and the cows are wanting to go to grass....

I haven't even tried to find the few cows I have left to calve-- but hope if they did they found a nice spot in the brush or big coulee out of the wind...

Aw crud.
Just check NOAA and we are now under a high wind advisory. 35-45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph.

OT keep your eyes peeled might be able to catch my hat as it flies by.

Snowed during the night- with about an inch on the ground at one time before it melted... Temp now up to 37-- still getting rain and snain....
I noticed one new calf that had came during the night (momma had done a good job and had it right next to a wind break and calf shelter, so it was doing fine)- and even saw the sun peek out for a couple minutes while I was tagging it...Wind only blowing about 20 mph today out of the NW...

Rain gauge was full of slush and froze this morning--but looked like we picked up about another 1/4 of an inch so are right around the 1.5 mark for moisture from the storm....

Ground was white this morning. About 1.9" of moisture since Thursday night. The sun came out this afternoon and the wind let up a little, only 12 to 15 mph now.

We have over 2" of moisture so far.

Here's what it looked like here today:
