It seems name dropping can be considered a negative thing,so I decided for fun to start a thread about famous or infamous people you have met or even know well.......Or did you know anyone before they became famous....highschool friends and so on that are now famous....

I have shaken hands and talked with .....Robert Plant...Arnold palmer...and LL cool J.......

All were pleasures to meet and All 3 were super nice experiences...It is funny how much people are really just people in the end...Each one went out of their way to ask questions of me,as I said it was a positive experience meeting each one of them....

Feel free to tell us your experiences with famous people..It is more than ok to name drop in this thread...So lets hear some names....... :D

Met Andre Agassi and Boris Becker a few years back. Have met a few football players inculing walter Payton back in the day.. ONly famous person, and he is only semi famous, that I know I went to school with was sharif Atkins, who played the doctor on ER who went to Iraq (I think it was Iraq) and died. He lived down the hall from me my Freshman year in college.. Was a bit of an odd duck but had a wonderfull, and I mean wonderfull singing voice... Oh, also ran into Courtney Thorne Smith while she was visiting at Northwestern.

Ran into a couple famous folks when I worked at Albertsons as well, Meg Ryan and her ex, whose name is escaping me at the time, sometimes came in late at night to do some shopping. He would come in with dark glass and a hoody or a hat and no one even cared, they were busy looking at his wife

Just realized that I grew up in the town that Marquerite Henry used to live and that Misty, from her book Misty of Chino... well, whatever the Island was called, used to live there too... Still trying to figure out if she was still around when we moved there.

The only one of the folks I would have considered a friend is Sharif but I doubt he would even remember me...

my brother's claim to fame is that he pissed next to Randy Owen at the Kansas State Fair a few years ago.....

mom asked if they talked or if he shook his hand... brother said hell no! not after what each of us were just hanging onto !!!

met Bobby Hull when I was a kid. Think he's still raising Herefords in Ontario. Farmers Daughter played at our wedding before they got famous. My boys played against ISRAil Idonije, Chicago Bears #71, this years superbowl. He was big then and a lot bigger now!!!!!!!!

I met Patrick Duffy and Steve conelly (sp?) when they were up goose hunting one time (remember Dallas?), but the coolest was shaking hands with Lui Passaglia, the best placekicker to ever play football.

Monte Montana lived up the road from us when "HE" was a kid. Met him when he was back for an Unveiling.
Went to school with Clarke Gillies , the hockey fans will know him.
Met the Bellamy Brothers at the fair.

I was within 15 feet of Bill Clinton at the Sioux Falls, SD airport. That was in the beginning stages of his campaign. Didn't know who he was really untill later. Denny, I liked you answer!!!

I did sit at a table eating a late supper in the lounge of the Marriot in downtown Denver in 1996 or 97 and Ty Murray was seated right next to us I never said a word to him figured he was pestered enough and I had nothing to say anyhow.

I do know the PBR Bullrider Wiley Peterson but thats just because his Grandpa married my Mom..

I met Lazy Ace at an okra growers convention in Toad Suck Arkansas. We were at an evening okra tasting, social and dance . He had on a green suede liesure suit and a white fedora. He was very stunning. I'll never forget that day.

pictures please !!!!! sounds like Lazy Ace was all "pimped out" for the occasion

I forgot one or two.. Dan Rostenkowski was at my wedding, friend of my father in law and ran into a few at my father in laws wedding toobut their names are slipping my mind.. One os a comedian who used to preform an opening act for Sinatra and another was the Singer from the God Father movie... It was goofy, lol but whatever...

Oh, and I met Former Governor Ryan and Fromer Senator Moseley Braun too but those are two meetings I try to forget, lol...

Reader, I find it funny that you have too look awa, I always have the same response and it is really hard sometimes to figure out who someone is without getting a good look at them... My dad on the other hand could recognize everyone and when he lived in California my mom said it was a real embarassement how he would walk up to star and just say hi, lol... But he has met so many people through his work (Maybe even you R2
) that he can be the king of eastern European name droppers, lol.

Oh, and I have gone a few rounds with Jose Cuervo...

Dad spent a lot of time in Washington for a few years... Dealing with House Foreign Affairs subcommitee I think.. His job has him over in Bulgaria a lot now and all over eastern Europe.. Don't ask me exactly what it is he does because I have a hard time at it except to say he was the head of one of the Funds that were put in place over Eastern Europe after the collapse of the old Soviet block... How him and I can spend time talking is beyond me as we have so little understanding of what each of us does but it seems to work...
Can't say the same for my brother and him, lol.
