National 4-H Headquarters Announces Call for Curriculum Reviewers

2006 4-H Curriculum Jury Review And
4-H Afterschool Curriculum Application Review

Background:

In 2006 National 4-H Headquarters, Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service, USDA is piloting a new way of conducting
the National Jury Review Process for 4-H Curriculum. Curriculum will only be reviewed at two specific times this year (mid-April and mid-September)
by teams of professionals who will meet at the National 4-H Center, Chevy Chase, MD.

In January 2006, National 4-H Headquarters issued a "Request for Applications for 4-H Afterschool Curriculum." These applications will also
be reviewed by teams of professionals. Processes and time-lines will run parallel.

National 4-H Headquarters is requesting applications from those individuals interested in peer reviewing 4-H Curriculum and/or Applications for
4-H Afterschool Curriculum from across the country.

March 1, 2006 Deadline: Those interested in being considered as reviewers for 2006 and 2007 must submit an Application for 4-H Curriculum and
4-H Afterschool Proposal Reviewers (application template provided).

Reviewer Qualifications:

Professionals on the teams will need a strong background in one or more of the following areas:
· youth development
· curriculum development
· content areas
· educational technology design
· print design and packaging
· diversity
· practitioners in delivering youth development curriculum and programs

Resources and Commitments

· Reviewers must travel to Washington on 4/17-21/06 (first choice); or 4/24-28/06 (second choice) or 9/18-22/06
· Reviewers must be ready to participate in an evening orientation and dinner at 5:00 p.m. on Mondays and stay until 2:00 p.m. on Fridays. There may be opportunities for a few people to stay shorter times, particularly those reviewing for specific content. However, the majority of the reviewers selected to travel to Washington must be available for the entire week designated.
· This is a volunteer position and reviewers donate their time to review the curriculum and/or proposals. However, travel, meals and lodging will be paid through the generous support of the 4-H Leadership Trust.
