Just had one of the neighbors call to tell us that Ashley Andrews has been crowned Miss Rodeo North Dakota!

Ashley was raised just across the border into North Dakota, but her mother grew up about ten miles from us and they have been long-time friends.

I don't know if you've heard that this pretty young lady has had quite a battle with cancer and seems to be in remission. She's fought the good fight and we are so tickled that she has been given this honor.

She'll be a great representative for the rodeo world.

Now tonite its a basketball game- with that idiot Dick Vitale...Only thing worse would be a hockey game

OT, if your ever in a situation like that again I would try to do the right thing and help you out anyway I could :D

What else are friends for- right

What a night in the broncs again...Broncs 8 Cowboys 7

And every time I watch that Cool Alley in the broncs go, you just got to know that that bronc rider is going to be beat up if he rides her or if he gets throwed...Awesome power....

Several past bronc champs hit the ground awful fast...Looked like Mortenson was still asking "Where did he go" 5 minutes after the ride...

Didn't do very good with my fantasy team last night- all tho Allen Bach came thru again for me...If him and Masters just keep consistent, he could come away with another heeling title because that whole TR average is about wide open......But now is when some of those guys will really be going for broke.......

They were really talking about this today on the local radio.. I got to listen to it while I was corraling the last of the cows to haul out tomorrow, the easy way with a couple of bales on the back of the pickup...

I thought I understood what LB was trying to say- but wasn't sure- anyway this young gal that has went thru so much- and was Miss Rodeo North Dakota- is now Miss Rodeo America- beating out 28 other gals.... Pretty neat....

Not sure whether it's good or bad.............we get the NFR telecast at 8:OO and rebroadcast at 11:00 on OLN. Only problem is that it's yesterday's performance but I guess that"s better than no broadcast which has happened lots too :!:

My wife is going to be in Vegas from the 10th through the 14th. Wonder how hard and or expensive it would be to get some tickets for one night? I have been to the NFR when I was a kid and it was in OKC. I would like to get her tickets to go see it. Might keep her away from slots for one night, I might be the richer for it.

Might be real cheap being it's over on the 9th

Yea I think I will tell her that she can get the best tickets money can buy then  Maybe take a couple friends with her my treat

Am I the only one that can't stand Donny Gay as announcer for the bulls, seriously I hear that annoying sqeaky voice in my sleep :?

Ya Rod Hay :D

Just got back from the NFR last night. Jazzy's buddy was standing 4th in the average, but a couple of ropers that I thought were bullet proof were having less than good rounds. Actually, I was disappointed in the ropin all the way around; trashy calves & I don't know what in the team ropin. But all-in-all, the usually "good" time was had by yours truely  One thing really impressed me tho. The one night I'd didn't have tickets & went to watch it on a big screen at the Excalibur. When they played the national anthem, the whole room stood & uncovered for it. Passer-bys first just kept walkin, then some stopped and did the same. Before long the whole area was standing in respect. Made me proud to be a fan of rodeo 8)

I had another hot night last night for my fantasy team-- Picked up 21 points and another go around win (won 2nd go with 26 points)...Also had a good 6th and 7th go round- placed in both and really brought my points up so after 8 go rounds I'm now sitting 1st in the overall-- which I didn't think was bad out of 65 players....

My girl Mary Berger, who has given me points every previous night finally knocked over a barrel last night :( But Lee Graves came thru in the bulldogging on Canadian night....

Made it back from the rat race of Vegas in one piece...no thanks to the taxi drivers there! The NFR was great...except for the team ropers...they just couldn't seem to get it together. My neighbor Linn Churchill did very well for his first NFR...placed 3rd in the average, catching all 10 steers, and placed 7th in the World Standings...It sure was fun to watch him...along with all the other guys and gals. One thing about the NFR they sure keep a fast moving pace. Here's just a couple pictures at the rodeo...

The National Anthem sung by Heartland. Notice the gal in the center with the flag, and the stars in lights around the arena...pretty cool.

Ok..so this wasn't a rodeo event...but it sure was my hubby's favorite part of the trip!

Hey Jassy was Bob Lord down there too I think Tony Schiffer and him go every year. It was kind of a differant finals it was tough watching some of the greats struggle-I don't think Dan Mortenson should retire but a year off to get himself healed up might not be a bad idea-the timed event cattle looked poor to me too but I was just watching on TV. The way Chad Ferley and Will Lowe are riding I think there's alot of gold buckles in their future-our Canadian boys did us proud they all had good solid finals I thought.

Last I heard from my daughter was this morning at 1AM  She said they were at the lounge in some Casino (I forgot which as my mind doesn't function too well at 1AM) watching the replay of the rodeo...She said it was just her and her 2 friends and another grey haired old guy ( :( ) at the bar- so they started talking with the guy...The guy was from Seattle- but when he found out she was from Montana asked her where because he was originally from Wolf Point (45 miles away)....Long story short- it was an old friend that I knew in High School and College-- who is now a big shot in the BNSF railroad in Seattle...

Small world-- only bad thing is it sounds like he was filling my daughter full of lots of tall stories about me during college days, so I told her what a liar he always was and not to believe a word he told her   ...

Never ran into Bobby...or anyone else that we knew were there. So many cowboy hats, that everyone just blends in...lol :hat: There is alot that never gets shown on T.V. which is to bad...cause like the memorial service they had for the cowboys that have died, was very special. I really don't think I'd go again, to many people and way to much traffic for this country gal. I'm glad I got to go at least once, now it's just one of those "been there done that" kind of trip.
