Problem is there's this other guy named Tom Osborn that everybody else wants.....

TO for DC?

TO has accepted with conditions. Remington will be his assistant if those conditions are accepted.

Trouble is.......TO highly endorsed Pederson and getting some slack for it.

Word is that Pelini ain't coming under TO.

Someone else said it. This will be interesting.....................

Where are you getting all your info from? Yesterday, TO said he hadn't had any discussions about being AD. TO doesn't lie.

EVERYBODY - the whole state - endorsed Pederson. He was the local Golden Boy coming home. Whoever says TO is getting slack for it is dead wrong.

I don't know how much credence I'd give to a comment from Pelini about working for TO - that sounds like somebody is getting waaaaaay ahead of themselves. It wasnt' even 24 hours ago that Pederson was fired and already possible coaches are talking about possible ADs? Is the person who said that the same one who said TO was getting flack on recommending Peterson?

When Pederson fired Solich the slack started.

You don't think Pelini has already been asked by reporters/anyone about a job at Nebraska?

Yesterday, TO said he hadn't had any discussions about being AD. TO doesn't lie.

That was yesterday.

From The News:
Just a few short years after firing Dr. Tom Osborne's hand-picked successor as Nebraska's head football coach, Husker athletic director Steve Pederson was given his own walking papers on Monday by university chancellor Harvey Perlman. It's the culmination of a story that began with hubris, and ended with the triumph of cosmic justice. Pederson, the brash new athletic director in Lincoln who replaced Bill Byrne, had the nerve to fire Solich — Osborne's longtime assistant and a loyal Nebraska man — only after improving to 9-3 in 2003, one year after a very difficult 7-7 campaign in 2002. It's one thing for an athletic director to have honest doubts about an inherited coach's credentials. It's quite another matter for an athletic director to step into a new situation, witness the head coach make a four-game (in the loss column) improvement over the previous season, and still hand a pink slip to a coach who had led the Nebraska program with considerable dignity and integrity

My sources say TO will be announced as the new AD today at 5:15 C.

Thinking about taking the Huskers minus the 2 1/2 on Saturday.

You want A&M?

I never bet against my team. There's a lot of times I won't bet ON them, but never against.

if TO takes the job, will this fire up the Huskers? will they compete? I have a lot of die hard Husker fans tell me they doubt they will win another this season! I find that hard to believe, but it is a possibility!

Sandhusker,
if you had your choice, who would you take as the coach?

Top of my head.... Turner Gill as head coach and Bo Pelini as D cord. - although I'm pretty sure Pelilni's next job will be a head coach so my fantasy is already toast.

Turner is a Husker, a person of integrety and character and, from what he's doing with Buffalo, looks like he can coach a football team.

Another one probably on only my radar is Joe Glenn in Wyoming. He's a Nebraska boy (not a Husker, though) who's had success - and a good solid guy.

I could see Gill being good, but wanting pelini..... I thought you had better judgement.

TO will right the ship, but it will not be the overnight sucess that everyone thinks it will be....however, the morale boost will really help the ball team.

with all my deep seeded hatred of Nu, and all things Husker, I will admit that Tom is a stand up guy, who I admire and respect.

I don't think we're that far down. We were making progress - North champs last year. OU didn't exactly kick our butts in the champ game - play it in "normal" weather and who knows what happens. We had Texas beat if Nunn doesn't fumble or Callahan calls a run. We gave the game to Auburn with that dumbass fake punt on our own 30 (sorry, Mike, but you know dang well that play had a huge impact on the game). We easily could of been 11-3.

Personally, I think you replace the D cord. and let the O cord. call the plays instead of Callahan, and we're fine.

I don't think we're that far down.

Are you forgetting the Wake Forest game?

OSU got demolished by Troy! TROY!

Then OSU turns right around and runs up 38 points the first half on ya'll.

Damn son, you nearly got beat by Ball State.

I watched most of the Sou. Cal game and was embarrassed for you guys. Now look how good they ain't.

Ya'll have taken a severe nosedive since last year. Stop the bleeding!

It really bothers me to hear a Nebraska fan say:

"We easily could have been 11-3" WERE YOU 11-3?

I've seen a lot of teams make mistakes in coach changes. Auburn went through it when they hired Terry Bowden. It takes a long time to correct all those mistakes.

Clean house and be done with it!

Hey, I'm no Callahan fan, just trying to take the emotion out and look at the facts. No, we weren't 11-3 last year, but when you're two plays from it, you're not totally inept.

Wake Forest isn't a bad team. They're 4-2 and just beat #21.

Our O moved the ball on SC, the D just sucked so bad.

We put up 41 on Ball St., but again the D sucked.

Mizzou and Okie St., the D continued to suck and I think the O said, "What's the use, our D sucks. and they gave up, too.

I think our O is servicable, it's just that our D has given up on Cosgrove and the O sees no reason to score when the D is just going to assume the role of a seive. Get somebody who can run a defense that the players believe in and the O comes around. We won't be championship material, but we'll be good enough to beat K St.

Was told that Pelini is in Lincoln now but the NU King Air "4NU" has not left the hangar today.

Can't find anything that has left Baton Rouge bound non-stop for Lincoln either.

Ruh Roh. This ain't good. A private jet (Cessna Citation 5) left Conroe Texas at 4:32 this afternoon, destination.......... Lincoln and is still in Lincoln.

Anyway, Conroe is a hop skip and a jump from College Station-Texas A&M and Franchione needs a job.

Hell no Nebraska isn't far down. They still have as much talent as anyone.
The thing that bothers me about "we couldda been 11 & 3 is that's about what Solich got fired for. Seriously, Sandhusker isn't trying to argue for moral victories, but close losses that should have been wins generally even out soon enough. A good example is Kansas - we lost the lead in the fourth quarter in 4 games last year. A little more depth changes the season from 6 & 6 to !0 & 2.

I don't know if they can even afford to can Callahan and Pederson, but only a fool would bet against TO.

TO says he won't do any coaching changes during the season. However, one can only hope Callahan finally has the nards to can his buddy Cosgrove and bring in somebody who can run a D. Whether he want's to admit it or not, Cosgrove is a heavy weight around his neck and is going to pull him under.

Callahan is 3-8 against ranked opponents while at Nebraska.

Yes, NU has talent. But it's not talent alone that wins ballgames.

Those kids all have to be on the same page during a game.

The Blackshirts didn't wear black during practice yesterday. They don't feel deserving..................................................
