Hi everyone...since so many of our Ranchers.net family are dealing with shortage of pasture and/or hay, I thought I'd post some tools that might help.
North Dakota State University Extension Service has a great "Feed List" in which you can post feed you have, either pasture or hay, or else post if you need pasture or hay. In the past droughts it's been a very good tool for the "haves and have nots." I expect it will be no different this go either.
Here is the link:

Also, I know of a young couple, Weston and Teresa Dvorak, who are just finishing their feedlot north of Dickinson ND, and are willing to take in cows. They are hoping they will be able to graze, but should it turn dry there too, they'd also be willing to dry lot. I'm no fan of sending cows out, and especially not fond of drylotting, but this couple run a first class operation, with tremendous cleanliness, herd health, great husbandry, management, and nutrition, so I'm glad to recommend them. In visiting with Weston on Thursday it sounded like they were offering to take cattle in very reasonably. If we have to send cows out, they'll be at the top of our list.
PM me if you'd be interested in their services, and I'll provide their phone number.
I hope these help, and I hope everyone keeps their chins up. We are doing our best to do so.
Remember, it will rain....someday!
Cheers---
