I need some help from you fine folks on finding a good Corgi pup for my wife's birthday. She's interested in a female tri-color for our country home. Not interested in showing her or breeding her. We've done a bit of looking online and like the looks of some from a breeder called Arasky Acres in South Dakota. Does anyone know anything about their dogs? Here in Florida, Corgis are hard to find, and a lot of the so-called breeders are simply puppy mills looking to make a fast buck. We're looking for a companion dog first, and herding ability second. I appreciate any help y'all could give me.

Buy a vaccum...a dust buster....a Swiffer......and those sticky lint rollers!!!

They shed like no body's business ALL YEAR LONG!!

My Corgi, Lil' Fern was a gift so I have info for you other than the above!

They are great dogs...strong willed , tough little critters.

Make sure you are the Alpha Dog in the house as they are really a Great Dane packed into a Corgi body!!!!

**** I forgot to add...buy lots of Windex.

Every low window and door you have inside the house will have a ' snot line' about 6-8" above the floor level!!!!!!

Thanks, Kolanuraven. Yes, we have heard about the shedding...all year long *s* And we have an Aussie as well, so we know all about the snot line already.

You sound prepared!!!

I've got a Corgi, Blue Heeler and Tri color Aussie.

My basement storm door has 3 levels of ' snot lines'

LOL...Our sliding glass door will have three levels, too. Or more. We already have the Aussie, a Greyhound, and six cats. Thank goodness the two horses aren't allowed inside yet.

Sorry, our Tri female was the first to go. We have 1 red and white female left, these pups come from working parents and they are soooo smart! They are soooo sweet and love their people! They were already helping "daddy" keep the cows away from the feed bunk as I dump feed in there. They are 8 weeks old (we deliver the 2nd to the last one tomorrow to Billings). I don't know about Arasky Acres, never heard of them but there are alot of Corgis in S. Dakota. We purchased our male from S. Dak. Our female from Iowa. Here are 3 pics of the pups:

Down here, several of our friends have Corgis and they shave them in the summer. I mean total shave with the clippers. And amazingly enuff they look cute with the hair clipped. And they say it sure cuts down on alot of the shedding.

Really? I'd not heard of that....have to ck into that.

We got our oldest dog from SD. Fairview Kennels. He loves getting attention and chasing cows. He is out of action right now due to a torn ACL in his right knee.
Better grab Hanto's pup. She won't stick around. If I didn't know that my husband would throw a complete fit I would get her, but we already have 3. :(
Remember one is never enough. :D

How do you keep those girls from eating up their bed? I bought Fern Doggie 2 nice puppy beds....they are rags now.

Any toy is trashed within minutes. If it's a stuffed critter, she'll eat the face off first thing then pull out all the sutffin' guts!!

But, she had never chewed on a shoe, chair or table leg or the sorts....so I guess I shouldn't complain.

My Blue Heeler LOVES rocks....and Fern has taken up that habit. In fact a big ol round rock seems to be her favorite toy!!!

Hanta Yo, could you give me some information about that last pup? Which one is left, what do you want for her, and do you have any idea about the plane ride? Have you ever flown one, and if so, did it have any problems from the flight?
