Cool pictures! I think we will do this one again.

Wow, who is the guy on the horse in the flat brimmed hat?

WOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! :P
Now how do you know the guy in the flat brimmed hat is WOOOOO-HOOOO...you can't even see his wrangler butt :P

C'mon ladies, don't you agree he looks good? From the back
anyhow!!!

I just appreciate a good cowboy image, I guess.
Look at the saddle, look at the chinks spurs, etc.
Yep, I like that cowboy image...

Poor guy, now I've probably embarrassed him.

 :P :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Took Lil Lilly hat shoppin today, to a real hat store.....for Christmas. They have "blanks" there. I know she's been in that store before, but apparently she didnt pay attention to the hats on the shelves. They are all unshaped. Flat brims n round crowns. Her first comment was, "I don't want no Amish hat" so I explained to her that they shape it any way you want right there in the store.

She chose the crown crease, then the feller started workin on the brim. When he was done....it was square lookin..like the one he was wearin, she said, "nope, don't want it like that, looks like them new fangled squared toed boots, I don't like it, make it rounder." He got her all fixed up, with a brim shape she likes, along with a stampede string so the hat won't come off in the arena. (can't have that, they have "hat fines" if ya loose it)

My wife actually drug me hat shopping the other day... But my big old melon doesn't fit those hats right so they were going to have to steam it to fit me right and I wasn't that interested... Maybe if I got one shapped to my head (7 5/8th oblong) it would feel alright but gosh they are all so stiff feeling.. Have to say I did like the oilskin hats they had there, much more comfortable but those aren't fitted and I fell in between sizes.. Maybe when I loose some more hair the slightly small one will fit better

If you find a "good hat store" they'll shape it to fit your head right there while you wait, let you try it on......work at it somemore....till it fits like somethin you been wearin all your life.

And if you got to a REALLY good hat store, they measure the shape and size of your head. Then they build one, just for you. Like the guy I go to at Weather hat shop.

And it fits like you've worn it all your life and always feels like that.

Did I mention I'm kind of fussy about my hats?

Yeap, they measured her head, even made her take her hair down (she's got enuff for 3 people even if they aint got none to start with :P ).....measured again. Around, across....front to back. We didn't get a hat "made for her" but they can and will if you wanna spend the $. They also do alot of hat restorations there.

My wife has been getting on me for a LONG time about getting a hat... Probably is sick and tired of the glare off the top of my dome (lil Lily want to spare some for a folicly challenged fella?  ) but probably more for other reasons... Who knows, she said she REALLY liked the way the oilskin hat looked but I just couldn't bring myself to do it, although it is probably more my style than the fancier hats... As far as finding a good hat store... Would probably have to do that if/when we have time on a trip out west as I doubt I will find one around here. They have steamers to refit a head but the selection is a bit on the poor side.

I am one of those folks who actually likes the square toed boots, at least the way mine are square... I can't handle the really pointy ones, these actually felt good the moment I put them on so I paid the man and walked out with them... Should have gotten a second pair like them but got a round toe instead (Which I haven't worn once).. Something about when I buy shoes or a fitted ball cap I tend to buy in multiples so I don't have to go shopping again in a year or two or however long the darn thing lasts.

(lil Lily want to spare some for a folicly challenged fella? )

ummmmm someone else is already got dibs on it. LOL

I guess the reason I don't like the square toe'd boots is mainly because they remind me of the old Dingo boots that were in style back in the 70's
(yes I remember that far back :P ) They just don't look like a cowboy boot to me. And it's very agrivatin to go into a western store and that's about all they have on the shelf. Course our local western store manager knows if there's somethin that I don't like...I'll sure let him know bout it.
I'm one of the very weird people, that for some unknown reason my left foot is bigger than my right foot. (I'm right handed) Most right handed people's right foot is just a tad bigger than their left foot. So boots off the rack in the western stores don't fit me. One does, but the other one don't, it flops. My right foot is a 5 1/2 and my left foot is a 6.
I've got my one and only pair of custom made boots, they are gettin very very warn....been resoled about 5 times..but now the tops are givin out. Gonna hafta get somemore made soon.

Jersey... The shop I bought these boots at.. This was the only pair that was squared off.. Most were real pointy and it felt like my toes were going to end up on top of each other instead of next to them.... I walked away shaking my head after the first visit wondering if I was just wasting my time.. Again, our selection of western stores around here leaves a bit to be desired. i suppose I just need to plan all of this stuff out for when I go west for a bull sale or a trip or whatever because I am generally disappointed in what the localist places have to offer (Cater very much to the western pleasure show folks) and their selection tens to be a bit... narrow.

I remember the 70's.. Sure... Barely...but that is becuase I turned 5 in 1980.

I'll take the nicely squared off ones over those real pointy toed
boots. I hate that look.

Some of the squared off ones aren't too bad. I'm like Lilly,
hated those Dingo boots.

Mr. FH favorite boots came from Luskeys/Ryons, I believe.
We ordered them. They have 15" tall tops and they are the
second pair he has had.

www.luskeys.com

His are the Round Toe Tobacco Stallion. They aren't custom,
just in stock boots.
I see they make those in a square toe now too.

His feet get so sweaty, he has to change boots at noon.
And usually socks too.

Lilly; I'd make the old boots last................going to prison just for a pair of boots is viewed as being kinda extreme in most places!

Yes Big Muddy it's Catalena Hatters. Real nice folks there.

LOL @ goin to prison for a pair of boots. Yeap I'm bout ready to make another trip to the pokey......least I don't hafta stay long. I really shouldn't hafta go back inside the prison tho, they've still got the lasts my boots were made on, so all I hafta do is come up with a design that I want, and colors. Let Mr Lilly take it to the man, and in about a weeks time I'll have a new pair of boots. It's me, I can't decide on what I want. Keep findin things here n there I like....I've decided on the tops, the foot part is what I gotta git figured out.

All this talk and not one piece of help on how to get a great pair of wranglers to fit properly

Yes Faster, wide brimmed hat looks good, but look in the background of that pic...some eye candy there too.
