ok that's what I thought you were talkin bout...them baggy butted ones......that don't fit right.

Women...when you go buy yer fellers Wranglers...you buy them one or two sizes smaller than he thinks are comfortable....then they'll fit like Wranglers are supposed to fit. If you buy the ones that aren't prewashed....they'll fit more like Wranglers are supposed to fit also. To get them to the Wearable stage...cuz they is mighty stiff and scratchy....put them in the washin machine........fill the washer up....and let them sit over night....then wash. The legs won't twist and be wrinkled up like they do if you just wash em like you'd normally wash clothes. Then after they are dry, Wash em again...you can soak them if you want to, but you don't have to.....it just makes em get softer quicker.
What the deal is, they are so stiff to begin with, if you just run em thru the washer the first go round, the cotton in them doesn't have a chance to get completely wet. So they wrinkle badddddddddddd.

Ok........that help?

After the first couple washins....they can be dried anyway you like em........I like mine soft......for knockin around workin....but dressin up goin to town britches...I like em startched stiff...where they'll stand up on their own.

Oh, yea, Mrs. Greg. You mean the guy horseback in the blue shirt?

Well, I saw him, but if I mentioned two guys I wasn't sure what
kind of reaction I might get here.

Besides that, its the flat-brimmed hat that caught my eye.
Not everyone can wear one of those.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Oh, no R2.

That's not the COWBOY WAY!

I think this picture might be one of Liberty Belles. She
posted some pictures of a branding in her area where
everyone dresses for the occasion.

However, what this fella is wearing is standard
cowboy attire, depending on the location;
and I'm betting that it is.

Any self-respecting cowboy would look as BAD as he could if
he knew pictures were going to be taken of him while working...

I also believe it's one of LB's pictures.

R2 many brandings, which are a major social affair besides being necessary, can sometimes be quiet a fashion show also with all the help coming in from different areas.

The attire will vary greatly but I'd say that guy had no idea a picture was being taken of him right at that moment. Some guys get dirty quicker than others and I've seen some , especially the ones roping and dragging, stay spotless!

It's an art!

I think the guy knew he was getting his picture taken :D Nice white shirt, cool kerchief, great hat, good posture. Come on, he knew it

Heck I just came in from gathering up a wayward bull and I have on a nice white shirt, cool neckerchief (red for Christmas), great silverbelly MacKay hat ( altho definitely not a flat brim)-- but I think the good posture left me a few years back...And they're all covered by an old faded out Carhart coat that is holier than the Pope

I heard Saddle Tramp can keep a white shirt clean for three days of haying.

Peach Blossom does the greasing.

You got that right, Big Muddy. Peach Blossom is more mechanically inclined than Saddletramp and me put together. Our son, the welder, got his talents from his mother.

Remember, I'm the picture-taker. It's a clean job, but somebody has to do it. :-)

I myself wear a white shirt to lots of brandings and everything else. They are cooler in the heat.

And as a matter of fact, I also wear a good hat. Nothin' makes me laff quicker than seein' these guys with the plastic protective thing on their hats, when it's raining. Hell, thats why they invented beaver felt hats. Protection! From the sun, rain and snow.

Some people just don't get it I guess. :???:

As for posing, how in the hell would he be posing when he ain't even lookin' at the camera?

I know lots of guys who dress just like this.

Some of us take pride in our outfit.

A lot of times, Saturdays are the chosen days for brandings because there is more chance of assembling a larger crew. Years ago we had a banker that loved to go to the brandings. He was getting up in years, but he was always just as happy wrestling calves as he was at any other job.

This banker always dressed in a suit and tie for his banking activities. Brandings were his days to go casual. He always had a day's growth of whiskers, and would come attired in a light blue Sears-Roebuck shirt, and blue denim bib overalls from the same source. He'd wear an old soapweed straw hat, and high-topped lace-up work shoes adorned his feet.

I always got a kick out of the fact that he would "dress down" to go to a branding. The rest of us always spiffied up for the big day. We knew we'd see our neighbors, and wanted to be at our best. We'd shower and shave ahead of time, put on a clean shirt, wild rag, and clean Wranglers. If there was any chance there'd be some cute eligible girls on hand, it was even common practice to shine our boots the night before.
