new bull for my baldie heifers

It was funny...yesterday he was scared of the herd, today he is acting like he's been with them all summer and bred my number 1 cow this evening and is still with her right now. This isn't the number 1 cow.

4 of the 5 heifers I have saved that haven't ever been bred. I'm excited to see babies out of them crossed on him!

Just keep in mind more people are hurt by 'pet' bulls than any other

Amen. Walk through your cows and even brush you bull, but never take both eyes off him and never get between him and a truck of a pipe fence or another solid object. Bulls have funny fuses and can go off in a heartbeat, regardless of how you treat them. Even just playing with ya can mash ya. I am not a brangus fan but he looks like a good bull. Hope he throws great calves. Sorry about your baler. Maybe try swath grazing this year! :D

Good advice. I kinda thought RA was a bull whisperer...or something... :D

Here's the baler... :D . Luckily I only had about 30 or 40 feet to go before I was done.

Shoot, I still don't have a place to plug my welder in yet.... :D . It's a quick fix. It does need a piece welded or a new deal made. I'll get it done tomorrow when I'm in town robbing banks... :D . I just have a 150 day or so left and I'm done for the year except a possible 2nd cutting custom job. World's smallest ranch - world's smallest custom hay outfit.... :D

I love this bull, but know I might be the only one in the world... :D I think it should be noted that even though I know he must have holes in him being priced in the cheap seats, still there this time of year having been passed on so much, a Brangus which never gets mentioned on here, I still posted pics of the rest of him in a timely fashion unlike other members on this board!!! :D :D :D :D

Thanks everyone for all the advice and inputs! I really appreciate it! None of it is wasted! This board is great for learning and helping keep on track as far as goals!!!!!!!!!

To bad you weren't closer. :D

I have two wrecked balers like that at the town place you could have.

:D Dang, that would be great!!!.. :D . Well, you might save them for me....they might be the closest ones to me someday for parts as I will still be baling with this thing many years from now and all the rest of them will be melted down and made into weapons as the world goes to heck... :D ....just jokin around... :D

Image Shack must be working well for posting pictures on here. Do you like it better than photo bucket????

That picture proves it; you are a bull whisperer. :D

As of right now I like using image shack better than photobucket. I would like to try a different one though. I of course still think being able to upload them right into your post is the wy to have it.

I have tamed every bull I have owned, some really mean to start with!!! I can sense which one's I will get along with by seeing a picture, but like to see them in person for just a second. I was nervous with a bull I bought at HD and Dilion Pages buckng bull sale in Ardmore, Ok. I just seen him bucking and bid and got him. He tried to attack me at every gas station on the way home through the trailer. ....and then was terrible here. He got crazy tame...I physically usually pushed him into the loading alleys at rodeos... :D . My Hereford bull still tops all the bucking bulls for craziness...he was a mess, but tamed down the fastest being that bad to begin with. I'll go through and train this Brangus bull to do everything I trained my bucking bulls to do and when things pop up along the way, I can handle the situation better. I put a lot of time into it! Oh and I think this Brangus would buck....that's probably why I bought him... :D :D :D

When I first came home from the Marines I broke every bull I had to ride - - - more to show the neighbors how crazy I could be than for any other reason. I would go out to check cows and just get on the bull and ride them around with nothing on at all - - - take a foot and nudge them to guide - - - how stupid! But when you come back into civilian life you are invincible aren't you?

Fast forward 42 years and I now have the first bull I have ever had that is not halter broken.

Just ask Fly S to come to your part of the world. He is pretty good at breaking bulls to lead.

When we moved to SW Montana, we had no corrals. We were building some and had the posts set. We had a Horned Hereford bull that had to be doctored. Don't remember what was wrong with him, but we had no place to doctor him. We got him into a lot and Mr. FH roped him. When he took up the slack, that bull came along nice as you please! So we led him to where the posts were set and tied him up. That was a nice surprise. I don't think we have had a bull broke to lead since.

Thanks for the stories!

I bought some grain for him today for training...so today I worked on him leaving the herd and going through a gate into a pen and eating....then I let him out when he was done... :D . He did great. Then I'll start feeding him in the trailer... :D .

RA, the trailer feeding will pay big dividends. I've just gathered my bulls from the cows and didn't need a corral. A bucket of cubes and each one loaded in the trailer. Sure makes life easier when you can get them to do this.

Isn't that nice... :D . I think that's the way to have them!

Scares me too death to see people petting bulls especially pictures of it. Not criticizing but I don't want children or ppl not use to cattle thinking they can do this. Head and neck is the most dangerous part of a bull.

You bet...I deleted the petting pics and am sorry! I have stirred up this every time I have posted me petting cows and bulls and forget because it's such a huge part of how I do things! No more petting of the cattle pics! I will say that I am heading out to do my night check and can pet every one of them in the pitch black dark without worry.... :D :D :D

Too late for that 4Diamond....I'm so mad and hurt right now I can't even type.... :D :D :D Just jokin! :D . If my little sister's boyfriend seen some of my pics, he'd think you could do it with all cattle and get hurt bad...so I'll just think what if he seen this pic or that pic before I post....lol. When I know he's coming here I just about cry... :D Glad you were able to put up lots of hay this year!
