just heard that Hornady has come out with a new cal. the .17 hornet.
Savage has comitted to chamber their model 25 in the new cal.

20 grain bullet at 3600ft per second and a flat trajectory

sounds like a lot of fun, Christmas is coming :) :) i hope

I bought a newly introduced 17 Remington back in 1972 that pushed a 25 grain bullet over 4,000 fps. P.O. Ackley had been shooting a derivative of for 20 years previous.

I think I'll stick to my 22-250 Ackley Improved that pushes a 52 grain bullet to 4,000. It'll get me about 2-300 yards more distance than any of the 17's.

Gun manufacturers are always coming out with a new gimmick. It's keeps us buying new guns..............................................

At .20 -.25 cents each, some say the HMR is overly expensive to shoot.

Of course if you like small, you could go for the .14 Calibers:
