Hey all, just joined this forum and thought i'd post a couple cattle pics to show ya what i raise here. These are some of the registered angus stock we have. We also raise crossbreds of mostly simmental and angus with some hereford and shorthorn blood thrown in. Also raise a bunch of crops. Been reading on here for a few months now and decided to join up. I see some of u are also on another forum i am a member of so sorry if this is repetitive for u.

Dan.

ps. the bull is a 2 year old Sitz alliance 6595 son we recently purchased. The cow is a larks canyon grand-daughter and the calf is a GAR new design 5050 daughter.

Welcome to our humble little forum!

Nice pictures!! I like the 6595's and yours fits right in. He looks to be
a really nice bull. What is his dam?

I'm suprised the Larks Canyon cow is so long. I haven't seen any of
them but Larks Canyon is so deep, I thought he might be a bit short. She sure is nice and looooong.

Calf looks good; I just can't get excited about GAR or New Design genetics.

The dam of the bull is a descendant of WR Bar marriot. She has really low ww and yw #'s but a high EN #- i beleive +20 if i remember right. I never got to see her as she was out in the brush someplace. She was a first calf heifer and her #'s have no accurracy anyway.

The cow pictured comes from a larks canyon son- so lots of variables thrown in there. But i saw her sire and he was very good looking. We have 5 cows from him.

As far as GAR and New design genetics- first off let me say we just got started raising angus 2 years ago. All the info we read about at first stated that precision and new design bloodlines were the "best in the breed". Then i came on to these forums about 6 months ago and started hearing from real cattlemen that told me a totally different story. Now we have had some good calves from 208 and the ones from 5050 and yield grade are ok so far. Have bred a few cows to Gridmaker this year. Will see how that goes. Perhaps next year we will just let our alliance son breed them all. He may be a better "real beef bull" then the AI bulls

just thought i would post this pic of our last herd bull while i had the photo deal open. He is a purebred black simmental. Don't ask me the breeding on him- my uncle has the papers stashed away and god only knows if he could find it if he wanted to, lol. We are pretty proud of this bull- he sired some awsome offspring for us. We used him 3 years- was 6 years old when we sold him for hamburger. And below him is a daughter of his. Sorry for the dirty pic- it always gets that way in the freeze thaw winter wonderland around here.

Useful looking cattle, and some green grass in the background. I'll look at some more when you have time (emphasis on the green grass!!).
