My family and I just got home from Az and Nm. We sure enjoied it. We saw the Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, 4 corners and all the usual tourist traps. My favorite part ,excluding the Grand Canyon which is in a class by itself, was the grazing country from Springer NM east to Gymon Ok. Looks like good country. Red River was sure refreshing temperatures to us this time of year. Water there was the best I ever drank. I always enjoy seeing new ranchland and different parts of the country. New Mexico and Arizona are two of my favorites. I'll go back someday.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ARIZONA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ya didn't visit with " you know who" , did ya?????

I guess if you hit Red River and went to Springer, you went through Eagles Nest and Cimarron. I love that country as well. Packing into those peaks to the south of Red River is one of life's true joys. Given a choice, I would like my ashes taken up to the headwaters of the Red River and spread in an aspen grove.

I sure don't care to make a trip back for you this weekend. Can I pick your ashes up say.... Saturday?

Let me get this right.......

You know I'm male.

And you still want to haul my ashes? Sorry, bro, that is Wheeler Peak not Brokeback Mountain..............

Only a necrophiliac could make such a leap. You liberals are getting worse all the time. I was just excited to hear you were going to be turned back to ashes.

RR, you were probably about half way here, then........I40's about halfway between us and the 4 corners........just about exactly.

Sounds like you had a fun trip, though......next time, you'll have to holler, and if we're still in the country, meet up somewhere! :D

I've always liked the looks of that country, too. Looks like it would be a nice place to set up a yearling operation. If it keeps on getting more and more crowded around here, I might just have to go find out.

I'd come visit you if you move out there.
Bring your work clothes when you come to visit me.

I doubt if I'd go there, anyway. It looks like nice country, but any place that would elect a democrat governor will probably have to be purged from my list. I guess I'll have to keep looking...

Oh please don't hold Bill Richardson against the good people in NM --Santa Fe elected him :)

That IS good yearling country out where you saw (Springer area)....and in the winter it snows sideways with not much to stop it --you saw it in a good year at good time -- There are more hills that what it looks like from the road...the terrain is deceiving.

Folks in Taos, and down the Rio Grande Valley, from Española to Hatch did too. I've known him for 30 years and for a politician, he is a pretty good man. I liked Bruce King as well.....which is funny cause my older brother is a good friend of Pete Dominici's and was the Republican Member of the State House from Chaves County 25 or so years ago for a couple of terms, and Mom was a Republican County Commissioner in Chaves County for quite a while.

I appraised a couple of them, but that was in the late 80's when Reynolds was writing his first book. Hard to get those things financed, then. I doubt it would be much easier now.
