Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and I'm very interested into working on a cattle ranch as a hand. So please excuse me if I ask any dumb questions. Cometely green to this. Anyways... I've been looking at ads on the Internet for hiring ranch hands. They all have a brief description of the work but I still have a few questions...do most ranches still use horses? If so what are the odds of them training me to use one for cattle work? I do own a horse and know how to ride. But just trail riding and stuff. Like I said before sorry if any of these are dumb questions but I have no clue. I'm 24 years old and want to get away from my home for a good while and experience something different.
I was in the Marines for four years and I'm a certified welder plus know a good bit about mechanics and I'm all round handy which I know are good percs to working on a ranch. Anyways.. A response from yall would be very appreciated! I've got to start somewhere. Thanks.

Don't know where you are located but, high plains journal, livestock weekly, weekly livestock reporter, will give you some good places to start looking.

I've lived all over the place. Including Michigan. And spent time in the hills/mountains of Afghanistan which can be pretty cold. Not scared of elements 😉
