These are some pics I took yesterday while feeding the cows and horses with Lazy Ace and Holly. We hope you all have a wonderful 2007....and I hope you enjoy the pictures! I had a great time playing in the snow!

Plow lines from the 1920's on the edge of the Rocky Ridge...we just found these after one of our fires, and they still show up in the snow! I can't imagine farming this-because it's on a pretty steep side hill and it's also just about solid rocks.

Finally, the end of the 2006 fire season!!!

the plowed fire breaks are pretty cool.

I was helping an old man several years ago, and we were cutting thistle in a hay meadow. I told him how weird it was that this cut followed the railroad. he told me that is the fire break plowed to keep the trains from burning off the prairie. then he started driving me around the pasture..... the original wire the railroad put in is still on that 1/2 mile of fence!! also, in four or five places, he showed me wagon ruts. he said they were from the Santa Fe trail !

it was a very fun afternoon!

Santa Fe trail. That's interesting Jigs. The Rotary Club has a project to mark the old cattle trails in the US and are working on marking the ones that came right into Canada. Maybe you could find where the trail crosses a hiway and get it marked.

I'm so very impressed with your country...I haven't seen many pictures from your neck of the woods..so keep em coming! I also liked the photo's of the red cows trailing in the white snow...You could frame them! Thanks they're great!

That old burned off stretch post kind of tells the story of the summer....

Many a year ago the state and county used to blade the fireguards around here- but not anymore...Most all growed over or used as a trail anymore.....

So glad you got snow. I kept an eye on the radar and was hoping you'd get some. Nice pics of the red cows.

You have beautiful land TTB. I really like the hills and valleys. But on first look the first picture looks like the ocean with some grass growing out of it.

I wonder if the landscape on the moon would look anything like picture number one?

Those are very nice pictures, TTB. Your new camera seems to be working well.

Good looking country, and the cattle seem to be in top condition for what they have been through this last year. I sure like the timber on the bottoms. :!:
