NH parts

NH is getting beyond greedy. They charged me over $60 for an engine oil filter for my TN85A !!! Last time for them - there must be a jobber out there. The filter for my 1105 Massey is 5 bucks . . .
 
They wanted a $158 each for new 9' sickles this spring I got them thru Rowse for $89 each plus $11 each for freight.
 
I've never tried ebay but around here NH is a bargain compared with John Deere. Deere stocks hardly any parts in their brand new fancy facility and has to order everything plus charging you for freight. Everything costs a fortune and takes two trips to get the part. NH just walks back in the parts area and gets you what you need. Don't think I'd ever buy a JD anything again. Those are our only two dealers for a long way.

I didn't realize that Kansas and South Dakota had the same dealers! :???: :roll:
 
Doug, I do not own any green equipment so I am certainly not an expert on the subject :shock: But I have heard from several sources that the latest chain store ownership of green equipment near you is tough to deal with.

I haven't even been in there since it was the original single family owned business and I needed parts for my JD #5. :roll: They were certainly good to deal with back then. Dad wasn't so much a JD guy but the rest of my family purchased a lot of machinery from them over the years.

The custom farmer from your county who does a lot of work in my neighborhood even showed up this year with a red combine in his fleet. :shock:

I know more than I want to, my daughter worked green for 2 years before going to the red store this year. About all you can do is shake your head with your palms up and rolling your eyes with your mouth open, totally speachless.
 
Here in southern Ontario, JD is trying to work their total ownership down to 5 mega-dealers. And they are darn near there. Our closest dealer owns about 6 branches now, covering a wide swath of farmers in an intensively farmed area.

They say that they can offer better prices because their volume buying power goes up.


Yeah, right.

This one is a 3 town mega dealer, but the son has never looked across the desk at a customer and thought "OH S***, if he walkes out of here mad I am sunk"

What you actually get with a mega dealer is "we stock that part at our other store, but we can have it here tommorrow"

I didn't realize Kansas, South Dakota and Alberta Canada have the same dealers :shock:

We are wall to wall green here, the dealers have no stock not even oil and expect us to run our own parts shelves, so when we sell a piece of equipment it comes with a life time supply of parts :roll:

Around here there are more colors besides green than there is green. Life is good if your color is red, yellow or blue. It is 100% the guys running the different places.
 
Sounds like this is a John Deere company policy not to carry any parts. They certainly don't carry much used equipment inventory around here. Our dealer is part of a 10 dealer outfit that covers about all of the middle of Kansas. It's a pretty good drive to get to a competitor and even the closest one has 3 or 4 stores now. Seems to me they are just plain arrogant and think the customer just has to take what they dish out. I know I will never buy another Deere tractor and it seems like such a shame because the smaller dealers had built a heck of a business and took care of their customers. Kind of feels like Deere has some new big shot at the top who has never seen a farm and is going to make some "changes".

Red is making a strong surge up here and I was exaggerating a bit on wall to wall green here on our farm, as we have a few pieces of NH around and every time I need a part for them they always have them in stock despite there age. Any more the equipment IMO is all about equal and I agree the service should dictate who gets our business, but green is tradition :roll:

Deere Trail ?? I worked at the Marion County store about 20 years ago, they were putting the pieces together then to go big or go home..... I decided to go home.... love my new holland dealer, but green is king around here.....slowly changing, and I am ever so greatful!!
 
Deere does try to force dealers to consolidate. They offer mega dealers better deals and the dealers end up stocking less because the other dealership has it. It's about t the point, that you can't go to the dealer down the street because that street is many miles long. They gotcha.
