Yesterday some folks we have gotten to know from him coming to bow hunt on the ranch brought horses down yesterday for a saddle horse tour of the ranch. It was three sisters two of which are twins, a brother, a husband of one of the twin and a son of the other twin and myself made about a 5 hour ride north to the badlands and back.
we started west and saw some of the cows and fresh branded calves then headed north past the Honeycombs Coulee and kicked out a big bull moose and a cow moose and a calf. Carrying on we had just gone through a gate on our way to the badlands and three bull elk came running towards us then veered off going around us at a couple hundred yards.. Pretty cool. :D
We then topped the ridge and rode along the highest ridge in the area with a view of the Big Muddy lake and the badlands below us. As we turn south for home we disturbed the last bunch of pairs yet to be branded and jogged home. A little excitement at a muddy water crossing but everybody made it across safely. With a bit of a detour to pick up a skull the oldest sister wanted we arrived back at the yard for Iced tea and treats that Tam had ready for us. Just a beautiful day to ride with enough wind to keep the mosquitoes off and not to hot I'd do t again any time. :D

Sounds like a fine ride, with nice scenery and wildlife galore. It would have been fun to have gone along, but since I wouldn't have been able to get my share of the gates, you'd have considered me a slacker. Glad you all had a great time.
