By some misuse of the word, you could call it colonialism, but you'd be WRONG. The best jobs in Mexico are with US companies.

A few observations: 1. this thread was started by Mike who used the term "Meskins" which might be considered racist.

2. Many US citizens' real problems with illegal immigration are the fact that it is ILLEGAL; that there is NO control of criminals or those with harmful intent coming into the country; that there is REAL danger from the gang members coming in; the STATED plans of many to 're-claim' the southwestern USA for Mexico, at the least through the saturation effect; and for the overload on local facilities such as hospitals, schools, law enforcement, and more.

3. Most 'dislike' for Canadians on this site is generated by R-CALF leaders (in their auction market reports on radio, and from the auction block in some markets) and members and sympathizers posting on this site. It DOES NOT reflect the thoughts of the general population of the USA, nor even of the northern tier of states, in my very strong opinion!

Final point: this anger, envy, whatever name one wants to call it, goes both ways, it appears, tho most on this site is definitely north to southbound, which is embarrassing to those of us who see benefit to both sides of the border from friendships (or, at the least, civility) and trade across borders.

Now, I'm off to the east end of the state for meetings and fun for a few days!

I have no problems whatsoever with ANYONE calling me a racist, prejudiced, bigot. :shock:

The ones who claim not to be are the ones I am suspicious of.......... :mad:
 
The inaction of our government to solve this problem-- to do anything that the people of the country wants- is turning this into a racial issue...

We've had more illegal invaders in our area this year than for years- since the Packing plant closed 30 years ago....They came in after our hailstorm with a bunch of out of state roofing and siding contractors....
After the local Sheriff and Border Patrol caught several-many of the folks that had signed contracts with these companies got an attorney to break the contract (because they had hired the illegals)- because they wanted nothing to do with a company like that...Several letters to the editor were written advising folks to hire local contractors...Well anyway it almost caused a contractors war---Truckloads of Mexicans would drive by jobs that they had before their contracts were jerked and yell obscenities...Several more were caught and deported...Then last week a group of about 1/2 dozen went in the local cowboy bar- one pulled a knife--my big dummy son stepped in the middle- the Mexicans all ran out the door, jumped in a Dodge pickup and started spinning brodies on mainstreet- then crashed right thru the old Hardware store wall--at which time they all baled out and ran....

Day later I was standing there looking at the damage to the building- and an elderly lady who I don't think has a prejudice bone in her body was there with several others-- I overheard her say "D*mn Mexicans are trying to wreck our country".....
Government inaction is breeding prejudice.......
 
Just a question but if semi-trucks are coming in from mexico with produce and competeing with your truckers do they have to come thru a border crossing. If so why are they not being stopped there? Or is customs and border crossings not controlled to the south. Or are your border guards asleep at the wheel?

Thats the problem--the Dept of Transportation testified they only have the manpower to inspect/safety check 1 in 10...And the States said they do not have the manpower to assume that responsibility....The Homeland Security (immigration/border patrol) also testified that they can only inspect 1 in every 10 loads coming across the border.....9 out of 10 loads could be cocaine- or more illegal invaders- or nukes for all they know or seem to care...... :( :( :mad: GW wanted to just take the word of the Mexican government- one of the most corrupt and graft ridden in the world... :roll:

The original law specifically required that each load be inspected.....
 
Perhaps its just the cynic in me, but I feel like inspections are a profit generating situation which means more trucks more $$$$


The reason this illegal immigration becomes a racial issue is because one side faces the choice of saying "the US has no right to its own soverignty" or stoop to race baiting
 
Yeah lack of funding. :roll: Maybe there should be an adjustment and take it from somewhere else in the budget. You know how a budget works you have only so much money to spend so there might be some things you can't afford to do (like a war costing a billion dollars a day). Sorry but complaining there is a lack of funds is such a complete cop out when a government is running deficite budgets. It is not that it can't be afforded in a deficite budget situation it is that the government thinks it is not important. Or the goverment realizes that these people are required to keep the US functioning. I guess it all comes down to priorities. Too bad.

There is a God of Justice...I just heard the other day that the Colorado contractor that had been sub contracting all these roofing and siding jobs and hiring these illegal invaders called up the local law enforcement because he hadn't heard from and couldn't get ahold of any of his workers...

Turns out that not only was he furnishing them vehicles, equipment, and materials--but before they got deported many of them had taken cash payments for the jobs they were doing- and got the payments that were supposed to go to this greedy snidely illegal hiring contractor before they got shipped back to Mexico- besides the wages they had received.... :wink: :lol: :lol:

Now he's trying to find his vehicles and equipment-- has no idea who or what some folks already paid (altho there is enough of them to more than prove that his subcontracted employees had collected contracted funds- and some have company receipts- signed by one of the illegals and cancelled checks :???: )- has half done and unfinished jobs all over town with folks threatening to sue if he doesn't get them a roof by cold weather.... :wink: :lol: :lol:

Greed finally caught up to one-- and I'll bet there is a big party going on down in some part of Mexico with some Mexican boys laughing about their former dumb gringo patron....
