No X in Christmas

Help Support Ranchers.net:

Some time ago, I read a different thought on the use of "X-Mas. The idea was that "X" is a universal symbol of "Christ". Can't recall exactly the story of it, but it did make sense.

Has anyone else seen anything about it?

A long time ago, when I was n High School, we were asked to write a Christmas essay.I wrote that I felt that" Xmas"" was incorrect, and offensive to Christians. (I was thinking about "expert", as I have heard that defined as an"unknown under a lot of pressure.") To my surprise I was told that in most areas of the world, "X" is the symbol for Christ.
Must have be a good lesson, as I still remember it.

Apparently X is the first letter of Kristos in Greek, but as I am sending my greetings in English, it will remain "wishing all a blessed Christmas".
