I really really like "Friday Night Lights." I've been down in that Midland country quite a bit, and admire their commitment and passion for football. Western Nebraska reminds me of that passion. I like the way Permian players deal with pressure and play hard (and drink hard - I'm a dinosaur). The brutal honesty of sports, when a can't miss player's career is ended by injury, was covered well. The insane, drunk, hasa been, football hero dad shows the excess of passion. And the ending where the graduating QB passes the ball to the kids - passing the football torch - was very well done. The bad part...producer Michael Moore.
Remember the Titans is pretty good, but lacks thje nuances of Friday Night Lights.
Glory Road is BS. UTEP was gifted by a bad call against JoJo White erasing the game winning basket. Its supposed to be about the emergence of integrated hoops, but Jojo is black. So UTEP made the finals because another blackman was jobbed. Yes Jojo played for my Jayhawks.
