We headed over to fairgrounds this A'm to find they had Ty listed as 40th in the average instead of 8th. I went and asked the secretary what was up and she got the judges sheet out and they had him mixed up with a kid from Alabama that had missed out his horse. The kid bucked off but he had Ty's score by his name. The secretary pretty much told me I was lying about it so I had to go get our prov. director-well they hemmed and hawed till I finally got them to watch the video tape. They huddled around it for 15 minutes then finally agreed he'd rode his horse. Well Ty was first up in the short go tonite-rode a pretty trashy horse. The judges never threw a flag but had a little talk in the middle of the arena and said he'd missed this one out. He's never missed one out before and it sure looked like he marked this one too. I was warned about the the judging at this deal was bad and I'nm tending to agree-got a pretty fed up bronc rider right now. The good news is the bull rider could feel his toes this A'M-they raised over 10,000 from the crowd tonite-Alberta led the charge with a $1,000 donation. I met alot of good folks down here and was treated well.

That is a frustrating day, but looking at the whole picture, what a huge accomplishment to do what Ty has done. He has talent and a bright future :-) . I hope your travel home is safe.

Well Corey,we've all seen poor judging and politics get into stuff like this....Sorry Ty seen it first hand.... :?

Did I miss the post about the bullrider???Anyway, feeling his toes is GREAT,gatherin it was a bad deal :???:

I feel your pain, nr. Darn, I just hate stuff like this.

One of our little buddies, a little gal, made it to the CNFR and won the first round in the barrell race. Second go, the field men outside the arena called for her and flagged her by. She tried to tell them she wasn't up yet, but they still waved her through to the arena. She got to the first barrell and the announcer called her the name of the girl that was up PRIOR to her. Really blew her mind, you can see on the video of the rodeo, and of course her run wasn't as it should have been.

Right away she went to the field judge, even before she exited the arena.
They disqualified her for running out of turn...even tho the guys on the ground insisted that it was her turn, she had her college vest on and everything. All she managed to do, was to get them to delete the "Disqualified" out of the video that aired nationally.

Things like that really hurt. So, tell Ty, STUFF happens. Just gotta take
it in stride. Darn it anyway. At least he got the experience.

The judges were quite a topic of discussion-they got Jesse Wright at the gate in the broncs and probably cost him a national title. I saw probably 60 or more kids flagged for missed out horses this week-I won't see that in a lifetime any where else. Were off to the Canadian finals next week in Williams Lake, B.C so we'll see how that goes. Saw some nice country on the way home. I hung out with the Utah parents during the rodeo-they're alot of fun and know their roughstock.
