NE WY at the foot of the Big Horn mountains
We tried to get clear into seeing the Columbia Glacier, but there
was too much ice. Still beautiful tho. (Now why are these photos not
all the same size? I didn't do anything to change the size.) :???:

They told us there was just as much or more ice below the water
than showed above the water. This ice is so cold, that if you put it
in a cooler it could last for days.

Silver Salmon. They told us the fish would jump in the boat if
we weren't careful. We laughed, but they were right. There was
fish jumping everywhere. Amazing.
We only caught the little ones tho... :p

You had to go down this ramp to get to where the boats were docked.

Kirk Wilson, our Alaska friend and fishing guide. I took this with the phone on his camera. In fact, all the pictures in this post were taken with
his camera phone, as my camera batteries were dead. We've known
Kirk since he was a pesky kid in Buffalo, Wyoming. He used to spend
time with us when we ranched there.

Kirk's wife, Julie. Man, is she ever a good cook. Their daughter got
married while we were there (Carhartt wedding) and she cooked prime
rib for everyone. I guess that comes from owning a lodge in Alaska...

Beautiful pictures and them's real fish!

And really fun to catch! They fight on top of the water a lot. I once had one make a run up th Anchor River, and ran right out ont the bank. I dropped my rod, and got 2 hands on the fish about 4 feet from bank!

These are REAL fish! Some fotos I scanned on from 32 years ago when we were last up there. These are King Salmon, 42 and 38 pounds if I remember correctly, from the Kenai River. And yes, Jan caught the big one

The Silver Salmon are really the most fun to catch of any.

That's what we caught...silver salmon...in fact, that's the ONLY salmon
we caught, so I don't know about the others. I ran out of steam on
one and had to have some help landing him. Mr. FH had one that
really fought, he ran with the hook. He thought he really had a big
fish, but it was only a 16 pound one. :p They really are fun to catch
and they have been good eating (if you like fish). Kirk said the
Reds are the best eating the Silver Salmon are second best.

You are right, Shortgrass, them's REAL fish!!

I wondered about that, but they are so grey!
The ones I've seen in W. Montana were brown...
but thanks for the info....they are YUCKY for sure!

The one that was ejected from under Hay Maker's grey horse's tail was likely brown also.

Where is Hay Maker again? I have five, genuine, Texas Equine Butt Plugs lined up for his perusal and approval and he's disappeared again. :p

Our Rat free Province has Muskrats. They are rather ugly. We have a police force dedicated to keeping the little buggers out and it is law to report any sightings so they can be dealt with. I had a meeting with a rat in Saskatchewan once and have never regretted spending tax money keeping them out.

I caint believe you girls did'nt know what a rat looks like, just lookin at the damned things makes my ribs hurt.
good luck
