Oil field tubing fence

BMR, can I call you that? Anyhow, I don't know if our fence is exactly 2 3/8 inch, but its close. I can send you some pics if I can get them onto my computer.

:D Ha ha, okay then. I probly don't need to know! Well, just an FYI, I do online school so I just got finished up for the day. Even Aced my last test!! Doesn't take much to get me excited. I'm headed out to take pics right now and I should have them posted in another hour.

I saw the pics, lots of welding.
I like those gate latches.

Thanks it gave me some Ideas.

I am probably going to use RR ties and metal straps to hold the pipe to them. This is for our sorting alley and it can have lots of pressure on it at times.

Thanks again
BMR

Ok, BMR, I couldn't figure out how to get the photos uploaded into the post, so I'll have to ask around about that. However, all the photos I took of the fence are in the photo gallery. Hope they give you some ideas.

We have a fair bit of our corral system made from 2 3/8 and 2 7/8 pipe. We just pushed the pipe into the ground with the front end loader and welded the rails between the posts. We build a little deal with a hydraulic ram to squash the pipe ends and cut the ends straight before welding to eliminate coping the ends. It's not bad work, especially considering how long it should last.

I highly recommend taking the time to squash the ends as Silver suggested. It makes welding go so much faster, since coping never matches the round of the pipe perfectly. Then when you hold your rail perpendicular to your post, you end up trying to fill gaps.
